Only really familiar with Lily Collins, though I recognize a few other names. I'm getting excited now, we hadn't had news of the series for a while. Still waiting on the casting of the barricade boys though...

Lol, when I saw the news item this morning my first reaction was 'oh that's still happening?'.

Not familiar with the work of any of these actors actually, so will keep an open mind.

ETA: oh wait I recognise Olivia Coleman. Wow she really is in every UK show isn't she.

I love David Oyelowo and am thrilled that he’s getting this opportunity! Kinda wish he was playing Valjean instead, as that’s more in line with the other roles I’ve seen him play; but then again, he does have the range for either. I know Olivia Colman and I’ve heard of the actors for Valjean, Fantine, and Cosette, but I’m not that familiar with their work. Hope they’ll do well!

Dominic West was in Pride and is therefore awesome, though ...not much about that film suggests Valjean

Olivia Colman is an interesting choice, but I think will be better than HBC.

Don't know any of the rest at all! That....is probably a good thing to be honest.

Really waiting for news of Enjy and the students though.

More casting has been announced (at least according to imdb)

I did some googling, and found this picture of Joseph Quinn (Enjolras), from Dickensian :o

What does that flag on the left say? I can't make it out

It looks like it says Qui du fer on the top row, and something Pain or Pat'n on the bottom row. The fold in the flag makes it difficult to see.

I'm excited to watch this adaptation! Hopefully this adaptation has a fairly proper tone and doesn't improperly remove/add/change stuff from the story, although with a short-ish length of maybe six hours I'm not expecting it to not be missing a lot.

It's great to see that big adaptations of Les Misérables keep appearing from different countries in different formats. I'd like to see a 20-25 hours long live-action French television series adaptation of it with a faithful translation and a faithful tone.

I love Les Misérables and I read the Julie Rose unabridged English translation (skipped footnotes) in 2016. I hope to read it again in 2019 but this time with the footnotes! :)
