Random things you've noticed

Noticed that myself and I think you may be right when you say that.

One that was actually pointed out to me: in playing the Bishop and giving Hugh Jackman the candlesticks, Colm Wilkinson is almost literally "passing the torch" of being Valjean. Say it with me: D'AWWWWWWWW.

Gavroche cried at Éponine's death. I think that's also why they cut his second verse from the musical: to keep the possibility that Gavroche is a Thénardier...

Did anybody else recognise Frances Rufelle as one of the prostitutes? I only realised it when I watched it for the second time. I love Frances' voice, so I was happy, but I wished she'd had a bigger part! :)

Sticking her in as a prostitute always seemed to me a bit of a passive aggressive move on the part of the casting directors.

I thought it was nice... I mean, lots of Mizzies were in it, and by the logic of that being passive aggression, the Directors are saying the same of Nancy Sullivan, who was also a whore.

Also, is it supposed to be implied that the baby the Thenardiers stole in MotH was Gavroche?

I dunno. Why would they steal *any* baby in the first place? I don't really get that...

I'm mostly joking, but when you're a Les Mis veteran returning to the piece after having been a part of it for so long, getting the part of "Prostitute #4" isn't exactly the dream.

I dunno, being in a major blockbuster however small your part has got to be something quite fun. It's possible it might even have been part of her original track actually, that would be cute

When Javert receives the letter from the prefecture, two prisoners can be seen down below him, apparently awaiting execution. The next shot shows a guillotine being swept in the background.

As for cameos, well...half of Katie Halls' face, Jeff Nicholson and Paul Leonard probably got the worse of it. :D

I love trying to catch things that the Amis are doing/saying in the background.
Like, when Grantaire is doing his bit in Red and Black and garnering Enjolras' attention in a negative way, Courfeyrac (I think it was Fra's voice) says something like "we do not need to be dealing with this right now". There were also some good ad libs in the barricade scenes.

I also thought it was cool that, even though they dressed him more bourgeoisie than the book did, they worked in Valjean's yellow coat. Also Fantine's little caps to cover her hair, exactly how I imagined them when the book described them.

And when Enjolras is allowing Jean Valjean to deal with Javert, how Combeferre stands disapprovingly in the doorway and tries to intervene.

There were so many little things that the actors, the set people and etc all did to reference the book or flesh out their characters subtly, I really liked that. Makes the flaws that the movie has less blaring.

I loved this. I don't think he just stood there, either; I thought he kept saying, "No. No. No," and shaking his head, which, when I realised it, was too much for me not to laugh.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but in the Finale, when it shows everyone on the barricade, for a split second it almost looks like there's a few drops of water falling on Samantha Barks. Raining on 'Ponine yet again.
