Toronto 25th Anniversary Production

Postby deHavilland » Sun Feb 17, 2013 4:39 am

So, the news has been out for a while, but made official by Toronto's reigning theatre family, the Mirvishes a couple of days ago. A brand spanking new (25th Anniversary) production is opening here in October.

Most importantly, they're opening with Ramin Karimloo as Valjean. I know the 25th production's been making the circuits for a couple of years now, but whenever they stage a brand new production - custom tailored for Toronto's Princess of Wales theatre as this one is - there's always some considerable tweaks, so it'll be interesting to see Ramin's Valjean in a slightly different production.

Also, I know there's been some buzz about it returning to Broadway - possible that the Toronto production will ship some folks/stuff over there for the rumored 2014 revival.

Welp, he did it in the West End, didn't he? But now we get him in his home country! :D

... and Canada never gets nice things.

 Didn't know that. But boy if this is true, it's a serious step back up from doing LND!

Definitely a step up! And they're selling the show based on his involvement, too. Much nicer than just being the next Valjean in a loooong line of Valjeans. Now he's the "original Toronto 25th Anniversary Production Valjean."

Oh, like the last time they did a Canadian Cast Recording for Les Mis?

I don't hold out a lot of hope for this. It's a sit down production, yeah, but we don't usually do Canadian cast albums. Phantom and Joseph being notable exceptions.

Oh dear god bestill my heart. I was so thrilled about the peterberough concert that he did. Now he'll be staying in Toronto! Last time I heard it mentioned (Brampton concert) he said that we should pretend that we'd not heard about it. And then he does this to us!
