Errr isn't Alabama Song by Kurt Weill. I know this because I have just been in a production based on the songs of Weill as has Frances (which I think is the coolest coincidence EVER!)

I've been looking for any of her Weill covers from Songs From A Hotel Bedroom but until now haven't heard of any. This I will have to get!

EDIT: Just listened to it. It was fantastic beyong belief! Very different to the original with Lotte Lenya, but I like it all the same. It's similar to Marianne Faithfull's version whos modern interpretations I like. Weill's songs really sound best to me when their sung with a husky voice.

Oh, and Bowie did do a version of it but it was written by Weill with lyrics by Bertolt Brecht.

I haven't heard Bowie's version although I can guess it'll be good. My sister currently going through mad Bowie phase and can't stop watching Labyrinth. I've been meaning to get one of Frances's albums for some time but can't decide on which one. Do have any to recommend? I do like the look of Imperfectly Me because of Alabama song but can't decide.

I've been trying to find Anthony Warlow's albums. They're on amazon, but I wish they were on Itunes so I could just download the songs I wanted, instead of getting a bunch I don't care about, just for three I really want.

I've got one Michael Ball CD. And also Gary Mauer's CD, which everyone should go out and buy because it's awesome.

And I've also got Colm singing "House of the Rising Sun." Yeah. Now that's fun stuff.

OMG OMG OMG! That's possibly my favourite folk song EVER! :D :D :D

...well, apart from Barbara Allen. And Wildwood Flower.

I take it he sings The Animals version about a gambler? Having Valjean singing a song from the point of view of a prostitute would be very odd indeed!

Is there any way I could hear this?

EDIT: Just watched it on youtube. That man is God! I've only just stopped dancing around like a lunatic.

I love Colm singing that song! And yeah, it's the gambler version. xD Just search "House of the Rising Sun Colm Wilkinson" on Youtube, it'll be the first of the results.

It's a reasonably epic version of the song.

Oh, and I also have one of Patti LuPone's CD. Because she's amazing.

I am not too keen on "House of the Rising Sun," but Colm rocks it.

Oooh that sounds cool. There's a video on youtube with her singing OMO with the chorus of Mon Histoire. Is that part of it do you think? I still haven't managed to get any of her CDs. I have to find which ever one has Being Alive because that would be a bit too awesome!
