Well... g'morning.

Postby Platzhalter » Tue Dec 23, 2014 7:35 pm

Because it's always morning as long as you've just been getting up ;)

My name's Platzhalter which is German for "placeholder" or "wildcard", currently living in Germany and lead to love Les Mis by my mother. To be honest, there hasn't been the chance for me to see the Musical on stage, so all my interest comes from listening to the songs on CD or youtube, watching the 10th Anniversary on DVD and seeing the 2012 version of the film... and reading the book of course. Other fandoms I like are Harry Potter, Game of Thrones/asoiaf and various anime and video games, mainly because it's what I grew up with. No idea what else you need or want to know, so just ask. There's nothing you can't ask... just don't expect people to give an answer to every question ;)

Welcome to the forum Platzhalter! How did your mother discover Les Misérables? Did you watch the 1934 France film adaptation? Did you like the comedy in the 2012 movie? For me it seemed out of "character" for Les Misérables.

Please reply to my two threads here:

Is that a Game of Thrones reference I see in your avatar? :D

@Lugitum:
Well... I have no idea how my mother came in touch with it for the first time. She's seen the musical at least once (in German, of course), has seen some of the films and has read the brick. But don't ask me what came first, the hen or the egg. And no, didn't see the 1934 adaptation... at least not yet. Not sure about the comedy in the 2012 film. It was OOC, but still... let's better not talk about it.
@Acaila:
Indeed. Glad you saw it ;)

Brienne, who I adore something fierce. Fond of Sansa, who is not my usual sort of character. I like Jaime a lot, and I have a strange affection for Tywin as well.

Never really cared for Brienne, but Sansa actually is very interesting, especially regarding her potential character development throughout the series. I'm really curious what kind of person she turns out to be in the end. Well... Jaime changes from a "horrible person" to a better man. And no matter how evil Tywin is, he's actually a very "reliable" character.
But what do you think of their portrayals in the series?
