Actually the description "a charming young man capable of being terrible" also fits this one in a most acute way...

Oh, wow. He looks a lot like Colonel Despard's pictures, especially, I think, but that is definitely an interesting look to think about for Enjolras in general. Thanks!

Oh God that model is a perfect Enjolras!
I recently found a headcanon R, and I'm not ashamed to say that it's an older Aaron Johnson.

I know, way too pretty but something in his general style does it for me.
Then I saw their trembling features warp and, gradually,
Their foreheads turn pale and dissolve in front of me,
And everyone, like a stream that flows into a sea,
Became completely lost in a dark immensity.

I can see it actually! I think I always associated R with that sort of hair actually, so it makes sense to me :D

Pretty Enjolras and nice R!

I know I've posted Older!Pontmercy before, but look at this bust and say this isn't Book-Age!Marius. http://fapoleon-bonerparte.tumblr.com/p ... louis-oury Maybe slightly less severe looking. This bust fits his overall mood a bit better:

But Marius is a brunet Napoleon II.

Though he wouldn't age into the Older!Pontmercy from earlier, but he fits my image for him better. Better as in, practically perfectly.

That's so ironic, and actually perfect, and really cool, and somewhat striking, all at the same time. Awesome.

Okay, I have an absurd amount of these, so, here I go.

http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183587159
This girl is my Éponine. I have no idea who she is- I think she's some kind of Cosplayer. She just worked so well for my vision of Éponine while reading the brick that she just totally became my Éponine.

However my modern Éponine is actually fairly different:
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183587162
This, friends, is the lovely Millie Robinson. She's a teenage photographer from England who does mostly self-portraits- I saw her picture and was like "OMG Éponine!!!11" and I'm still not sure why. Something just clicks for me with her, I guess, so she's my modern Ponine.

http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183587160
I know it's been said before, but Samuel Barnett is a total freaking Jehan, I'm not sorry.

http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183587986
Dan Stevens as Courfeyrac. This photo is kind of touched up, but it is PERFECT- I need more photos of him like this. The hair looks auburn, the eyes look green- basically my headcanon Courf is exactly like the way Colonel Despard draws him, and this is HIM, in real life.

http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183611156
Darren Criss is unashamedly my Marius- I'm surprised no one's brought him up before. He's pretty enough, he had the black curls and the forehead, and most importantly he has the nostrils. He just needs bluer eyes and he is perfect. So, yes, Darren Criss as Marius for me, thank you.

For my Azelma, I dug up ginger!Elle Fanning- while she certainly doesn't look homeless, she looks lost and scared and very, very small- not just young but emotionally. She looks like the girl who would, under the shield of her mother and sister, blindly punch out a window because "daddy told me to". While Azelma does seem to get better later on, Elle is my Azelma, no doubt.
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183588634

http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183605163
This is my Fantine. Fantine is supposed to be young- she is supposed to be beautiful. This has to be a girl that a guy like Tholomyes would willingly spend two years with. So, yes, Holliday Grainger is my Fantine.

http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183605158
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183605159
Good god almighty, this guy. This, my lovelies, is Gaspard Ulliel- a very, very fit young man who I think works very, very well as my Combeferre. He is pretty- my Combeferre must be pretty, because I actually want to marry Combeferre and I am petty like that. he isn't perfect, though- if only he had brown eyes and a bit of a squarer jaw, he would be my perfect headcanon...

http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183605161
Virginie Ledoyen made a lovely little Cosette in the miniseries.

And Abigail Breslin as baby Cosette, after Valjean adopts her.
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183605166

Speaking of babies, tell me that this little girl was not born to play a young Éponine.
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183588633
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183588632

And as Azelma I've brought in Francesca Capaldi, who I liked because she's actually quite adorable, and she and Brielle Barbusca (young Éponine) actually look as if they could plausibly be sisters.
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183588630
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183588631

My Thenardiess is pretty much Jenny Galloway, but oddly enough my Modern Madame T is actually quite different. Look at this lady:
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183611155
Why is she wearing a garbage bag? Not sure, but I'll bet you anything that it's another one of "Jondrette"'s harebrained schemes to gain sympathy from those rich people at the church. This woman would also work well for my canon era Madame, because... to be honest, I don't think Madame Thenardier should really be all that ugly.

Well, I mean, there's this:
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183611154
and then there's this:
http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/p ... =183626204

And honestly... I prefer Galloway better, or even a little less than Galloway- like garbage-bag lady. Because, it's important for Madame T to be ugly- she must be ox-like, and rude, and hideous- but she also has to be human. She isn't some stupid comedic relief, she's a genuine human being and a very bad person. That's why I hate the Thenardiess' who go all out ugly-funny, because that's so one dimensional and really wrong. I think that if Madame Thenardier looks like an actual human being instead of a caricature, the actress portraying her can make her ugly, purely based on what is inside of her- because what's inside is pretty bad.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.

I honestly have no solid Enjolras' or Valjeans in mind... hell, or a Bahorel, or a Bossuet, or a Feuilly, so if anyone has any suggestions...

Now I want to hear Darren Criss sing "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables". He's my modern Feuilly actually.

Hooray! Someone who agrees with me about Dan Stevens as Courfeyrac :D
Criss might make an acceptable Marius actually :) I see what you mean about him.

I found this on Tumblr. His name is Matthew Cunningham. And he looks very much like an Enjolras.

I was thinking recently of some actors that seem like they'd make good Montparnasses.

First off, if you've seen the last two Harry Potter movies you may recall the character Scabior, played by Nick Moran, a mercenary working for Voldemort.

Image

In my opinion, Moran has just the right mix of dangerous and (as TVTropes puts it) "Draco in Leather Pants" for a great Montparnasse. I can just picture him saying Scabior's signature line - " 'ello beautiful." - to Éponine when Patron-Minette show up for the robbery.

The second is Mathew Baynton, one of the stars of the British TV series Horrible Histories.

Image

If you don't know about this show, it's nominally an edutainment show for kids, but many people of all ages find it a laugh-riot, and the Monty Python influence is very strong, so if you like that sort of thing you might want to check it out. Baynton typically plays "suave villain" type historical figures; among his roles have been Dick Turpin, Cesare Borgia, and Emperor Elagabalus. Wouldn't be such a big jump to Montparnasse, no?

Kasha Kropinski as Ruth Cole from AMCs "Hell on Wheels" tv series is a total Cosette:
