Letters of Juliette Drouet to Victor Hugo.

The amount of...creepy adoration? of Drouet by the editor is kind of hilarious.

This thread is invaluable, thanks guys (I actually cannot overstate that enough, you are all amazing)! Something I read for the big project that I'm working on is more recent - Jonathan Fenby's (newish) book, A History of Modern France, which is probably basic level knowledge for many people but I found it very accessible and gives good details about laws and the political chopping and changing post-Revolution.
