One thing I do like about this play is that it pretty much avoids a lot of the mental health cliches, and tells a lot of realities as they really are. No melodrama, no exaggerations.

Exactly, I think that's why it makes it so uncomfortable to watch at times.

Another thought about Diana and Dan's folie a deux. They each have a different method of "coping" with their grief. Diana acts like Gabe never died whilst Dan acts like he was never there at all. It's only when they come to terms with the reality of the situation that they can move on.

That can be a good argument against my folie a deux theory since Dan's being in denial might rule out some psychosis. It is a good defense mechanism though.

It would make the "I am the one reprise" scene more symbolic than anything else.

Maybe Dan is actively imagining at that point?

I think that at that point, with Diana gone, he finally has a chance to look inside his own head.
I'm spending more time analysing this show than I'm spending on my actual work. If I come up with any more ideas, I'll post them

I just downloaded the soundtrack a few days ago, and I can't stop listening to it. AAROOON OMG. I loved him in Les Mis, but I wasn't obsessed with him until I heard N2N. I'm kind of freaked out by how sexy I find Gabe, despite the fact that he's a hallucination (or a ghost) of a dead baby in teenage form.

So as not to be completely shallow, I'll say I love the rest of the cast too (especially Jennifer Damiano), and I love the story and music. Other than Les Mis and maybe Phantom, no other musical has gotten such a strong emotional reaction from me.

I was introducing some friends to the show a few weeks ago and was showing them the I'm Alive video. I had told them basically nothing about the plot but about 1 verse in one of my friends says "he's dead isn't he." I was horrified for several reasons. 1, how did she work it out that fast, I had seen practically the whole show apart from the birthday cake scene and hadn't worked it out. 2, is it that obvious, was I really stupid not to work it out earlier 3, how dare you spoil the biggest story twist ever for the rest of my friends.

Revolution: like Christmas come early only with more death
Abaisse Chief/Chef
"Les Amis Fun Package - The Awesome Traits of Each"
"She's basically Enjolras meets Amy Pond"

Oh dear. That must have been quite a sight. When I sent the song to some friends (we were trying to clean our ears of a bad Taylor Swift earworm one night), no one worked it out.

Maybe it was the "if I'm a simple spirit or I'm flesh and blood" bit?

I knew Gabe was dead before I heard/saw "I'm Alive," but I'm not sure I would have worked it out if I hadn't.
