But on a similar Enjolras-specific note: I like your new Chris Cowley avatar!

Ooh, awesome! Thank you for posting! It's fascinating to see the original cast (especially since many of them were no longer in the show by the time the 1994 albums were recorded). :)

On the topic of the cast change in London, has anyone seen/heard the new folks yet? Wondering how they compare...

Lol guess what, I literally just read someone's comment on another site saying that they liked him as Enjolras, and I was like... *headdesk*
That somehow reminded me of the top 10 Javert video I watched yesterday. It's wrong to be so judgmental but sometimes people's views are indeed kind of...funny.

I like your avatar too! :D My cell phone wallpaper is a Javert from an Australian production but during exam weeks I'd change it to a dead Enjy, as I'm pretty sure that's what I am after the finals...

Wow thank you so much! Always good to watch something from Japanese productions. Kaho Shimada is my favoritestest Éponine. :D And honestly Japanese Eponines are just really amazing in general.

30th anniversary of the Japanese production of Les Mis. Get together with historical casts. Of particular note is Honoka Suzuki, who was second Cosette in the original production, Fantine in the late 90s (in the cast featuring Takeshi Kaga, Kaho Shimada and Haruhiko Saito from the OJC), and is now Mdm Thenardier in the newest cast.

One Day More, Bring Him Home (with multiple Valjeans), Do You Hear the People Sing.

Talking with the newest cast. Honoka Suzuki starts talking around 2:40.

Related to Les Mis, here's Erika Ikuta, the most recent Cosette, being presented with the Tokiko Iwatani award by Yuki Saito. Yuki Saito being the OJC Cosette, and Tokiko Iwatani the lyricist who translated Les Mis into Japanese.

Thanks so much for sharing those clips! It's great to see that Japan also did a pretty sizable event for their production's 30th anniversary. (Also nice to see their original and recent/current casts!) :D

Another clip. Honoka Suzuki talks near the middle. I don't understand Japanese, but from what I can make out I assume she's saying that the only role she's not done is Éponine. Some anecdotes at the end from (I think) Boublil and Schonberg. On the left of the first line are the Fantines of the original production, Hiromis Iwasaki and Itoh. Hiromi Itoh is on the blue cast album, and was in the original London cast of Children of Eden. Kaho Shimada is immediately recognisable in purple. Ran Otori, who played Mdm Thenardier in 1987 and returned for a special cast performance in 2011, is on the extreme right.

I Dreamed a Dream - On My Own combo, with Rina Chinen/Seiko Niizuma (both were on the 2003 Japanese cast recordings).
