Found a bit from the Shanghai 2002 run, the last time of Colm Wilkinson as Valjean:

Wish there would be more from the Shanghai cast. And don't even get me started on that supposed BBC documentary I've never managed to find and see...

Michael Maguire and Frances Ruffelle posing with their Tony Awards 1987. Worth mentioning that both also won the Theatre World Award that year (Colm Wilkinson did too), plus the Drama Desk Award for Michael alone. :)

David Bardsley as a bearded Enjolras, and Killian Donnelly as an amusingly baby-faced Valjean :D

Yep, well recognised! :D He's also understudied Javert too. And I didn't think of it when I posted those two pictures up together but he's either an alternate or an understudy for the dad in Billy Eliot at the moment, so he is sort of Killian's dad, shares a dressing room with him and is the other notable Combeferre on DVD :D

Oh, so good to hear he's working! Last I saw him (David), his wife was pregnant, due any day, and he was so excited.

That was November 2001. *facepalm* That baby is the age of the Billy kids.

So wish I could see him in that role. One of the things I adore about David as an actor is that his eyes give all of his characters this look of deep inner sadness that makes them intensely sympathetic. His Da would absolutely break my heart in all possible ways and I wish I could see (and sob through) that.

By the sounds of it, he's been there for quite a few years, so doing pretty well for himself.
Though the internet doesn't appear to want to provide for him and Killian together for true feelings potential :(
What was he in in 2001? He'd left Les Mis by then right?

He'd been out for a while. I saw him in a production of Rags that was up at the Bridewell Theatre at the time (oh, Bridewell, I loved you). Sally-Ann Triplett in the lead, Alicia Davies and Jon-Marc Hevey as the young couple. David was the husband. Amazing production that used the space well, but more importantly, I had so many feels for David's character because he made Nathan intensely sympathetic even as he tried to block all the progress we'd seen Rebecca make.

After that, he was in the Romeo and Juliet that crashed and burned and I was kinda glad it closed before I got back over there just because I didn't want the embarrassment of showing up at that stage door and having to tap dance my way around it being a terrible show. But it does mean I haven't seen him since 2001.

I tend not to go out of my way looking for people because in this business, there's so much potential for disappointment. Instead, I just scan cast lists of things I was already interested in or curious about and go "Hey, that's someone I like!" or "oh good, so-and-so is working!" That way I always get good news :)

That is a nice way to look at it :D It's definitely always nice to hear of someone managing to make a long term career out of theatre.

All I can think of is this particularly grotty picture that's everywhere:
