Is this the one who famously fell off the stage?

Yep, that'd be Todd. Other claims to fame include "consistently not being able to hit the Lamarque is Dead" notes. He was tall and pretty, though.

Oh well, that's at least half of what you need for the role! :D

It still bothers me that no one seems to know who it was that played Enjolras in the TAC, I find his "dead"pose to be one of the most elegant there's been. I wonder if he's ever played Enjolras on stage, and whether his name is hidden somewhere in the credits...

Sigh.

I was about to say "Umm....it was Michael Maguire! Who doesn't know that?!"

I think we tried to work it out once. I thought it was most likely to be David Malek, though he had a distinctly less elegant pose in another video. David Bardsley was Enjolras in London at the time but it certainly doesn't look like him and Malek was the prior one. Understudies in 1995 were Michael William Magee and John Owen-Jones (now wouldn't that be amusing! but I don't think it looks like him). Unless they filmed it ages and ages ago long before the TAC and it's one of the casts that nobody knows anything about or would recognise any of the actors from :(

Haha, it'd be terribly unobservant of me not to know it was Michael Maguire; ironically, there doesn't seem to be a picture of him draped over the barricade anywhere on the internet, which is kinda odd considering the Original Broadway Cast is one of the more well-known ones.

I thought he looked a bit like David Thaxton (the hair and the smile when you could see it), but of course that'd not remotely possible...unless Thaxton has magic powers or something...

That's a good point, do we have any of David Burt either?

Yes we do! ;)

Auf die Barrikaden wrote:Enjolras lying dead on the flag. Perhaps the show's most iconic moment on stage, as it was honored and recreated in the movie adaptation. And in my view worthy of an own thread. Many variations exist, be it more or less blood, eyes open/closed, on the flag or wrapped in it. I start off with the ones I could find online, please feel free to contribute:

The first and original, David Burt, London 85: http://media.tumblr.com/e7ef69782d2b0df ... qlxd8f.jpg

As for the TAC Enjolras, well...who can he be? http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lfam4 ... 1_1280.jpg

The barricade is the Palace set, so it's London. I thought David Malek from the looks is the best guess, but I'm still not too sure, even after years of debate and comparing photos.

I also had one of Burt just pop up on my tumblr dash, came here to edit and you were already here. Do ignore my stupidity in not checking ;)

This is Malek in a later run: http://youtu.be/f_7WlvhT6fg?t=3m19s
Doing the open eye thing throws it off a bit, but the eyebrows look right, and probably the nose too. Different wigs would make the hair a bit different, but it looks reasonable.

Yeah, it seems like pretty much every Enjolras has a dead-on-the-barricade photo, which makes it all the more odd there wasn't one from the OBC (or at least doesn't appear to be).

Eshk...I don't know if I'm in the minority or not but I really don't like the open-eye thing; I know some people find it more dramatic (or more confronting) but...yeah...not a fan.

Yeah, it freaks me out as well! Warlow talked about doing it as a challenge for himself every night, it must be so difficult to do! And I get that it really is effective in some ways, but still. Too creepy for me!

I remembered there was a great one of Scott Irwin, the 10th Anniversary Australian tour Enjolras, but I can't find it anywhere. :( Well same goes with all the numerous Japanese Enjolras'. However, there is still a bit to show, so have some animated Christopher Howard from the "Stage by Stage" documentary:

Oh that's marvellous!
I wish there were more gifs from that, it's such high quality footage. Havvy did a gif set of it that had some great stuff in it, even despite me saying it was the OLC, but there's a lot more there for the taking.

Actually, that is my .gif. Proof that I should probably start watermarking, lol.

A neat little "(c) HavvyCorp" in the corner?
It's the second one and the fifth one in that set I always remember. So melodramatic
