Also known as Noli Me Tangere by Jose Rizal.
Some say that this novel is inspired by Les Misérables. Apart from there being a few bourgeoisie-type characters, a suffering mother, more than one orphaned son, a beautiful woman who is loved by an idealistic young man, and a revolutionary figure (of a different, more proletarian background though), I am not so sure how true this is. And I've studied that novel since my high school days.
