I'm about halfway through it. It's like reading history written by someone in a frenzy, or perhaps tripping. You learn a lot about the French Revolution, but you also experience literary art of a high order. It's not a book for pedestrian dates and biographies (lots of inline references, though). It's detailed and yet a view from a height both. It is a whirlwind of a book about a whirlwind of a time.

I have actually made bullets like they're doing in my avatar. Then loaded the gun with a ramrod, and shot it. But I'm not feeling real good about guns right now.
