Hugo really must have been setting it up. I mean, even an uncorrupted mind can find it downright funny.

Perhaps not. But we know about him and the ladies, that's for sure.

Come to think of it, no one's ever thought up of a femslash gutterables line down here.

Are there any, then?

No doub I wouldn't stop those. That's still further away from my imagination than male slash.

Am I just really sick-minded, or do I see some Grantaire/Louison in the chapter in the backroom, when Grantaire is drunk and rambling and he tries to grab her as she passes?

Probably just some lusty Grantaire who'd take any well-cruved woman  but I'll go and read that passage again.

Alright, I concede with that idea. Seems easier to imagine.

One part that totally gets me squicked is the one where Valjean goes to Montfermeil and Thenardier gives him the room where he's conveniently kept a wreath of orange flowers. Unfortunately, the line that goes "There was a moment, then, when the monster was a virgin" gives me awful images.

Unfortunately, it's canon and not subtext. Goodness, of all canon pairings, Ol' Vic had to imply on that...

"You came in opportunely!" ejaculated Bossuet.

 Unfortunately that word tends to pop up in the 'clean' context in period literature.

Well, if you look at Bossuet's dialogue with it...

Yeah, but it also popped up in the latest Harry Potter, and I think it was Ron. In Hermione's presence.

This is rather unrelated, but I was reading "Pride and Prejudice" today, and I kept seeing the word 'intercourse.' And it was always used in things like, (none of these are quotes), Mrs. Bennet was in a foul mood after having no intercourse with anyone new for two weeks. Or Mr. Darcy stood stiffly and would have no intercourse with anyone. Or, it was such a pleasure to watch such close companions engaged in intercourse.

And of course, they just meant conversation, but the way they were phrased was enough to make me crack up. They even made a pun out of this in the Pride & Prejudice movie from 2005 because they used the word 'intercourse' so much in the book.
I am playing the Queen of France right now in a play. Try not to decapitate me.
