Les Gutterables Strikes Back: Book Edition

Postby Marianne » Mon Oct 09, 2006 8:11 am

We're eventually going to run out of pervy-sounding lines from the musical, but golly gee it'd take us a long time to exhaust the gutter potential of a 1500-page Brick.

I'll start with the classic: "I have come to sleep with you."
[Dieu] entend ta voix, ô fille des hommes! aussi bien que celle des constellations; car rien n'est petit pour celui devant lequel rien n'est grand.
- George Sand, Les sept cordes de la lyre

"On your knees." I mean, honestly.

"[Grantaire] was extravagantly gay, and Bossuet and Joly kept pace with him."

I LMAO'd when I saw this sentence. :D

Well, of course they would! Joly, as we know, is the gayest of them all, and he and Bossuet share everything--including, one assumes, Joly's gaiety.

Poor Bossuet. Joly caught a cold; he caught teh gay.

Lucky Bossuet, I would say. 'Tis great to be gay. Happy, happy, all the time happy. ;)

Aaaanyway. Just what does Hugo mean when he says "The two friends shared everything, even to some degree Musichetta." I mean... what?

Prolly means that Musichetta was one lucky, lucky lady.

Joly/Bossuet/Musichetta = even more canon than Enjolras/Grantaire.

... I had meant to write Joly/Musichetta/Bossuet at one point. Really. I swear.

*snicker* The gayest of all. Oh yeah.
and to this day, she's glided on
always home but so far away
like a word misplaced
nothing said, what a waste

... Please do write it? I read one Joly/Bossuet/Musichetta a while back and enjoyed it supremely (except for the typos, which made me SAD, because it was such a lovely fic otherwise). And I want moooore.

Joly/Bossuet/Musichetta = even more canon than Enjolras/Grantaire.

Victor's OT3, right there. YAY. The world needs more canon-ish threesomes, say I. :D

I must admit that when I read that I wondered whether they both just had the same girlfriend, or if perhaps they both had the same girlfriend AT THE SAME TIME, if you get my meaning. ;)

A Musichetta sandwich! Very tasty indeed. 8)

(And hey, Frédéric! You, suggesting a slashy meaning to Victor's text? Will wonders never cease!)

Er, actually I was suggesting a meaning where they both would be very busy with Musichetta at the same time and constantly nudging each other away fighting over her.

No way. Joly/Musi/Bossuet = Joly/Musi + Musi/Bossuet + Joly/Bossuet. Ergo, slash. You can't escape it! Hugo says so! 8)

(In this case, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole...)

While we're on the matter... I came across the reference to Joly and Bossuet being "what, among the Chapeau Brothers, are called bini", which, placed right after the "they shared everything" sentence, makes me wonder a bit... do we know what that's referring to? Anybody?

I just assumed they were roommates and shared their stuff including their girlfriend, but that's just your innocent straight male thinking. ;)

Innocent thinking? We've got to ruin that.

What about, "'I'm not at all comfortable,' said Javert. 'It was scarcely kind to keep me lashed to this pillar all night. You can tie me up as much as you like...'"
"Détruire les abus, cela ne suffit pas; il faut modifier les moeurs. Le moulin n'y est plus, le vent y est encore."
