I vaguely remembered you had said something about him being funny so I decided to search him on Youtube. Then I suddenly realized that his name is actually ANDREW Varela not Andrea Varela.   Damn...I had also thought Aris Sas was called Eric and Anton Z-something-I-still-can't-spell was called Alexander and I could even get "Artful Dodger" wrong because apparently I had problems with names starting with an A. Anyway, I'm so curious what it is that you find so funny about him. :D

OK...I joked about not voting for JOJ. To be honest I wasn't really fond of him at first but that has changed thanks to some recent videos. Not sure if he'll be my favorite someday (oops...I'm only 4 years into this fandom and I keep switching my favorite Valjeans) but it's entirely possible. Simon Bowman was in another terrible Confrontation that almost made me stop listening. And you Javert, you're not safe either. Wait until Havvy makes a Javert edition and once I find out who you are...

New idea for Javert edition: let's cut Phillip Quast from the list because the game wouldn't be balanced as long as he stayed there, lol!
And I apologize in advance to those who will get downvoted partly for Valjeans.

This is probably an excellent idea. Quast would win, no doubt about it. May as well acknowledge that and say "aside from Quast..."

In regards to Varela: Javert has a lot of downtime over the course of the show, so Varela used to livestream from his dressing room when he wasn't performing. He'd just be mucking around half-dressed as Javert and half-not dressed at all. He also gave us this gem and the "Behind the Barricade" interview series, where he interviewed the rest of the cast of the US tour about their personal lives and involvement in Les Mis, which is tons of fun for a listen. And during his last performance, he dropped his billy club as if it were a microphone and thus mic dropped his way out of the show. It was beautiful.

He may not have been everyone's favorite Javert, but he gave back to the fans and for this, we love him.

Surprised Alfie got booted so quickly, isn't he one of those Valjeans people are constantly gushing over? (which puzzles me, since I'm not particularly fond of him myself though, so no complaints lol).

I do wish there's a more recent version of Simon Gleeson's 'Bring Him Home', he sounds much better now than he did in 2014. Then again you could probably say that for a lot of them.

There seems to be a lot of love for Quast on these forums. But I've read opinions to the contrary elsewhere. When people say they don't like Quast as Javert I realise that there is no way to please everyone.

They should really make this a tradition. Well, depending on who's playing Javert I guess...

From what I've seen, Boe seems to be popular among casual fans, or perhaps even those who have only seen the anniversary concerts and movie or are Boe fans in general and don't care that much about LM specifically. But then again, a former teacher of mine who has seen several live performances over the years (including Colm in SF and Jeff Leyton in Manchester) also liked him, so hey.

And yeah, doing this for Javerts other than Quast would likely be a good idea, though I'd happily try to keep boosting somebody over him just to keep the competition going if we were including him.

(Random: You have two downvotes there -- I think the one for Rutherford was the one you were intending. Though I'd be happy with both him and Bowman getting downvoted at once, but I guess that's not how the game works. Feel free to delete this post if you wish.) lol

ROFLMAO!!! OMG that video is priceless... This also reminds me of a video I watched a long time ago, in which two actors (though they've never played Javert) sing Stars dressed as sort of special agents, with sunglasses, cigars and fangirls, lol! We definitely need a series like these. I was laughing so hard that my mom came in twice and asked me what was wrong. And wow, now I feel you! I have the same feeling about the 2013 London cast. I don't like them on stage, but they are so adorable in that Christmas calendar thing that I really can't bring myself to hate them!

As for Alfie Boe, I don't like him as Valjean. He was totally miscast. But I must admit that I was touched by his tears in the Finale of 25AC. :( That and Nick Jonas are the only two things I actually remember about the concert.

No worries, Acaila! :D

Sorry, Dave... Liked your Phantom and thought the LM album you did with Claire Moore was a fun project; but I didn't get your Valjean. (Kinda glad that they have to go all the way down to 0 to be taken off the list, and that we have a diverse enough range of fan opinions that Boe is the only one who was disliked enough to get kicked off so quickly... Having to downvote a Valjean I actually like because all the ones I dislike or am ambivalent towards are gone wouldn't be a fun experience. )

I hear you! I struggle though with not just upvoting JOJ repeatedly and systematically knocking everyone else off, though! It's hard to up-vote another Valjean, but I'm trying to remind myself that of all the times I've seen John Owen-Jones and loved him, I have actually enjoyed other performers, too.

Lol! Next time I'll consider upvoting Alexander Gemignani just to stir things up, lol. Also, I think I'm effectively upvoting Colm by downvoting him because you and Acaila would always appear whenever he gets a downvote. You Colm fans... :P

New faces for real this time. I actually lol-ed listening to Michael Burgess' version because in fact this is precisely how I feel about Peter Lockyer's Valjean. I mean, even though Lockyer sang it on stage, in Valjean costume and with the standard orchestration, I still think he looked so like a rock singer from the 60s. Give him a guitar or harmonica and he'll be perfect. As much as I love rock music and all the 60s awesomeness, this is not how BHH should be done. To be fair this downvote should be shared with Lockyer.

Acaila, can we add Jacobsen to the list because I REALLY want to upvote him. But...as he's not here..let me upvote the principal instead.
