Les Misérables Chain Game

Postby Enjolvert » Wed Apr 03, 2013 2:13 am

Basically, a silly game where one person starts a plot and it is carried on from there. The rules are, no double posting, no killing off major characters, and that you must continue the game from the options provided. Each poster provides 3 options for the game to then continue.

It's allowed to be fairly silly and a tad far fetched as that is the idea of the game, as long as it's in the realms of possibility. For instance, Enjolras can't just spawn a helicopter if he's being shot at, but if he does something crazy or OOC or generally silly that's possible, it's fine. Obviously try to contain some hint of character, for example don't say the bishop was drinking Thenardier under the table, but don't worry if Enjolras does something he wouldn't do in the brick. It is a fairly daft game after all but will be fun. Anyway, here goes:

Valjean was leaving his house on a Monday morning too:

1. Go to the shops.
2. Run away because he assumed Javert was pursuing him, again.
3. Give money to random poor people.
The law is unjust.

3. To give money to random poor people.

Tholomyes decides it's a good day to go out. He notices the white-haired gentleman giving out coins and doffs his hat. Tholomyes reaches the bend in the road. He's off to:

1. Visit Fantine
2. See who's at this new cafe at the Place Saint-Michel
3. Cut class again.

3. Cut class again

Fantine notices Tholomyes roaming the city without her. She

1. Runs up to him and pesters him to let her join in
2. Waves and carries on with her business
3. Has an inner moment of self loathing along the lines of "He doesn't need me."

3. Has an inner moment of self loathing along the lines of "He doesn't need me."

Fantine decides that she must follow him to see where he goes, briefly leaving Cosette

1. To play by herself in a nearby public garden
2. With an innkeeper's wife and her daughters
3. In the care of a kind-looking gentleman giving money to the poor.

1. To play by herself in a nearby public garden

Cosette watched her mom leave, but paid no heed and continued playing with a butterfly that had landed on a flower beside her. After a few minutes the butterfly flies off and Cosette
1. Chases it
2. Goes looking for her mother who is not in sight
3. Stays where she is
Tomorrow will come no matter what, but it is up to you to make it better than today.

1. Chases it.

Cosette runs after the butterfly until she completely looses her way and ends up in a small alley. There she sees an old gentleman giving alms to the poor. He
1. Doesn't notice her
2. Comes up to her and asks her where her parents are
3. Comes up to her to show her the butterfly that has landed on his hand

3. Comes up to her to show her the butterfly that has landed on his hand.

'There is a great deal of beauty to be found in the world, if you look in the right places,' says the gentleman. 'What are you doing here, child - what is your name?' Cosette replies

1. ' Cosette, Monsieur, I am waiting for my mother'
2. ... 'Éponine' (remembering her mother's advice not to give information to strangers)
3. Nothing, running away from the man and the alley

Cosette is curious though. "Who are you?"

1. Monsieur Madeleine
2. Monsieur Fauchelevent
3. Jean Valjean

3. Jean Valjean.

Javert happened to come out of the hat store (he bought a shiny new top hat) at that exact moment, heard the name "Jean Valjean" and immediately thought: 24601! He decided to:

1. Start tailing Jean Valjean
2. Seize him at that instant and say "I'm Javert! Did you forget my name?"
3. Disguise himself as a beggar to get a closer look of the man

3. Disguise himself as a beggar to get a closer look of the man

Javert reluctantly places his new hat in a doorway for safekeeping, and pulls the collar of his jacket up as disguise. As he watches the young girl and the gentleman, around the corner comes:

1. Fantine, in tears after a heated exchange with Tholomyes
2. Gavroche, who immediately puts on the top hat
3. The real Éponine, having fetched water from the well for her parents at the inn

3. The real Éponine, having fetched water from the well for her parents at the inn

Éponine is exhausted with hauling the pailful of water and stubs her toe, tripping over and spilling all the water on Javert. Javert is irritated because he can't display his full authority on the stupid, clumsy girl, and Éponine howls that she doesn't want to go all the way back to the well. The noise she's making catches the attention of everyone around, including

1. Gavroche and Montparnasse, who can barely breath laughing their heads off
2. Jean Valjean, who hastily approaches Éponine and Javert to see if he can help in any way
3. Cosette, who recognizes Éponine and decides to run away before they find out she isn't really Éponine

1. Gavroche and Montparnasse, who can barely breathe laughing their heads off.

Hearing their laughter, both Javert and Éponine turn towards the boys and

1. Javert attempts to arrest Montparnasse
2. Éponine drops the water and attacks them
3. Gavroche climbs a tree and taunts the Inspector from the branches

2. Éponine drops the water and attacks them.

'Don't make fun of me!' she cries, throwing herself towards the boys. The three tumble to the ground, Éponine in tears while Gavroche laughs and Montparnasse curses.

'Stop this at once!' shouts:

1. Fantine, returning and wrapping her arms around Cosette
2. Javert, pulling out handcuffs to arrest the fighters
3. Jean Valjean

2. Fantine, returning and wrapping her arms around Cosette.
Covering Cosette's ears, she screams at Montparnasse, "WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE AROUND MY DAUGHTER, YOU *@$#!" Montparnasse decides to:
1. Challenge Fantine to a fight to the death.
2. Point at Fantine, screaming, "IT'S JEAN VALJEAN!" to Javert.
3. Make for the sewers.
"He never left home without a book under his arm, and often returned with two..."

2. Point at Fantine shouting "It's Jean Valjean!"

Javert runs up, shouting:

"At last, Valjean, we see each other plain,
Fantine something-or-other, you wear a different chain."

Fantine decides to:

1. Punch Javert in the nose.
2. Casually explain she is not Valjean.
3. Point at Montparnasse screaming "NO! HE'S JEAN VALJEAN!"
