Internet Backdraft: Les Mis Edition

Postby Prisoner 24653 » Fri Mar 02, 2012 9:40 pm

I got this idea from the LM section on the Theater page of "Internet Backdraft" on TVTropes. Basically, come up with ways to quickly and efficiently start a flame war on a LM page (although I know everyone here is a good LM fan and would never bash someone for saying these). The examples on the original page are:

  • Do you prefer Frances Ruffelle as Éponine? Yes? Then prepare for the Lea Salonga fangirls to rip you to shreds.
  • Do you prefer Lea Salonga as Éponine? Yes? Then prepare for the Frances Ruffelle fangirls to tear you to pieces.
  • Do you prefer Samantha Barks as Éponine? Yes? Then prepare for both sets of fangirls to turn on you and leave you splattered in a bloody mess all over the floor.
  • Do you think Marius belongs with Cosette? Yes? You will die.
  • Do you think Marius belongs with Éponine? Yes? You will die.
  • Do you love Colm Wilkinson as Valjean? Yes? You will die.
  • Do you think Colm Wilkinson wasn't all that great as Valjean? Yes? You will die.
  • Do you think Michael Ball is the Best Marius Ever and no one else could ever compare? Yes? You... will actually be all right on that one, come to think of it. (This made me laugh the hardest. XD)
  • Say that Ruthie Henshall is the best Fantine? Prepare to be killed by the Lea Salonga fans.
  • Say that Lea Salonga is the best Fantine? Prepare to be killed by the Ruthie Henshall fans.
  • Say that Patti Lu Pone is the best Fantine. Prepare to be ignored.

So what other ways can you come up with to suffer a painful death on a LM page? (And of course, you can talk about the Brick, the film versions, and anything else; it certainly doesn't have to be restricted to just the musical.)

Simple: Nick Jonas was the best Marius ever! Les Mis is a story that takes place during the French Revolution!

Other ones: Hahahah, the Les Friends died for their silly little revolution!
All the Les Amis are perfectly straight and slash fiction is an abomination!
My favorite character in Les Mis is Enjolras because she's pretty!
At the end of the day, I dreamed a dream that whenever I was on my own in my life, I would hear the people sing with a heart full of love under the stars. Les Mis, I pledge allegiance to you.

The 1998 movie was a good adaptation of the Les misérables story.
So was the 1978 one.
Marjolras totally makes sense.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with the galleys in the '35 and '52 movies.
Charles Laughton is a completely convincing Javert.
It's ok to cut Éponine out of film versions.
Philip Quast was not all that good as Javert.
Les misérables the musical was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Seen all of these, btw. Couldn't always refrain from starting to tear the person who wrote that to shreds. (@$!&#* galleys!)

I think the one with the French Revolution hit the nail on the head.
Dark sarcasm ought to be taught at schools!

Les Misérables muscial fans who say, "Who's this Victor Hugo that you speak of?"
Les Mis is a happy story! (1998 film)

I hate the French Revolution one and the Andrew Lloyd Webber one. I saw some albums on iTunes that said "The Best of Andrew Llyod Webber" and they had things from Miss Saigon and Les Mis on them. :(
Tomorrow will come no matter what, but it is up to you to make it better than today.

"I hate all the songs, they're so depressing"
"I hate that there is SO MUCH singing"
"If you like the 25th anniversary concert better than the 10th anniversary concert, be prepared to be torn into shreds by the TAC fans"
"If you say someone else was better as Enjolras than Ramin Karimloo, be prepared to be torn into shreds by the Karimloo fangirls"

Only ones I can think of right now at the top of my head.

Éponine is the goddess of the friendzone.

Worse: I've been friendzoned! OMG, I'm Éponine!!

(To which I say: Friendzoned?? She wasn't even in the zone to begin with!!)
