The Sorting Hat

Postby Jehans Rose » Tue Jun 11, 2013 10:48 pm

An odd idea struck me the other day-which house will the sorting hat put our beloved Brick characters and why?
For an example, I believe that Joly would be placed into either Slytherin (based on his probable expertise in potions) or Ravenclaw (because I cannot see him being evil or conniving)
Likewise, Javert could be Slytherin (do I need to give a reason?) or Ravenclaw, because he is intelligent. Or perhaps even Gryffindor due to his strong sense of justice.
I don't know if this idea has been posted already, but what are your thoughts?

I *really* need to find some time to update my Hogwarts AU and get to the sorting bit.

I definitely see Enjolras as a Gryffindor.

I see Marius being the only member of his family not to be in slytherin.

Nah, I see most of the Gillenormands as Hufflepuffs, to be honest, though if Theodule likes attention so much, he could have been a Slytherin.

I see the Gillenormands as Slytherins, they would most definitely be obsessive purebloods.
I see most of les Amis and Éponine as Gryffindors. Maybe Joly could be a Hufflepuff as well as a Gryffindor, and Bahorel could be a very cool Slytherin. As for Marius, I'm divided between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, and with Prouvaire and Combeferre I'm divided between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor.
Musichetta is definitely a Ravenclaw. Don't ask me why
Then I saw their trembling features warp and, gradually,
Their foreheads turn pale and dissolve in front of me,
And everyone, like a stream that flows into a sea,
Became completely lost in a dark immensity.

I don't know where I would sort him otherwise, but his knowledge of Greek mythology does suggest some degree of intelligence :D

Éponine... hmm, probably Gryffindor, but I wouldn't be too surprised if she went in Hufflepuff either. Fantine I see Hufflepuff, though Cosette I would place in Ravenclaw. What do you think?

I tend to imagine Cosette being more of a Hufflepuff too. Kind hearted, sweet, charitable, but stronger than they look or make themselves out to be. :)

I thought about that, but I'm worried I'm trying to overcompensate for the lack of respect and interest that Hufflepuffs receive. I don't want everyone if Hufflepuff just because they're underappreciated.

Um, Valjean would likely be Gryffindor, also, for his determination to do the right thing no matter the cost to himself.

I like Javert and Enjolras and Valjean in Gryffindor together, actually. Javert wouldn't know whether to turn in the rebel or the convict first. :D

I wouldn't say I'd put her in there just because she's underappreciated though. I sincerely think that the qualities that J.K. Rowling describes for Hufflepuffs fits Cosette's character.

Can't argue with you on that second point though! Javert, Valjean, and Enjolras would definitely be Gryffindors, though I can see the sorting hat having a hard time placing Enjolras between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor though.

I would bet Courfeyrac as a Gryffindor, I think. Jean Prouvaire = Ravenclaw and Feuilly... um... Feuilly? There isn't really enough information about him to make a good call.

I'm inclined to put Feuilly in Ravenclaw, but I'm not sure if that would fit completely or not. :?
