Ditto for me, first script readthrough on the 8th and nothing before then!

I was going to go to Cuba but then I didn't. ... March, I guess.

Why Cuba? I didn't have you pegged for communist tourism :D

Happy new year Abaisse!

Happy New Year, everyone! I’m in New Zealand now, and it’s already almost the third of January. It’s fun being almost a full day ahead of my usual area. :D

I'd love to go to Cuba before it gets modernized and touristy. I understand it's a time capsule. Of course their Internet service is strictly controlled and people are still being thrown in prison for wrong thinking and such--maybe when it is opened up some of that will change. It's certainly a holdout of the old Communist style.

Belated Happy New Year! Let's hope 2018 beats 2017. And this is the year I'm going to see LM live! If all goes well I will get to see the touring production in Dallas, Texas.

Oooooh that's great! I've been listening to audios from the tour. I really like Jillian and Phoenix as Cosette and Éponine, and I've heard good things about the Marius too.

I think they mentioned it in the TAC documentary that they had the plan for a movie musical at that time. Apparently it never became a thing for whatever reason, but it's fun to think about what-ifs! What's the casting choice you have in mind?

There's a small thread about a 92 Les Mis film here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1976
I might expand this or make a new thread for my own personal fun collecting all available information about the movie that never was and what remains of it on stage to this day. Owning the screenplay draft and looking at Napier's set designs, the cast was and still is a big ? to me. I can't think of actors/actresses capable of filling the roles in that timeframe-except for...

Bette Midler

as

Mme Thenardier!

:D

Love that idea! She'd be better than HBC!

I'm going to try and stream my production tonight if anyone is interested :). Hop into the Abaisse discord if you are not already there -https://discord.gg/wkHBz7C

I've written a short article about the early Les Mis film project and put it up here: viewtopic.php?f=9&p=151293#p151293

So my brother casually walked into my room and bluntly asked how many copies of the Communist Manifesto I had  then was like "why don't you have a copy in German or Russian?"

I just have two copies in English... and he was like "I'll take that."

I'm not sure what to make of this... He then came back from school and was like "they caught me reading it outside history class, social experiment. But yeahh I was talking about how you own a ton of political theory books and wanted to prove it"

Apparently I have a reputation for owning every political theory in the world... here is the sad thing, I do not actually own every political theory book in the world. I wish.

Thought that was an Abaisse worthy story.
