It's amazing! I was a bit shocked when I saw the original; do I have to mention that I like your version of the pic much, much more?
Tell me, I've still a lot to learn,
Understand, these fires never stop,
Believe me, when this joke is tired of laughing,
I will hear the promise of my Orpheus sing...

What an absolutely splendid birthday present for MmeBahorel! It's so carefully and wonderfully drawn, unlike the original, oh God. I forgot how truly awful it was. I echo Ulkis here. It shouldn't be easy to mix up Hugolian protagonists like this, though I suppose we'd know then who raised the tricolor over Notre Dame in 1830. Enjolras the hump-backed bellringer, in love with... I dunno, the female personification of France never struck me as a dancing sort, more of a 'I am going to string you up on a goddamn lamppost' sort of person.

Anywayw, I adore this- all the little touches that make the Amis yours- Joly with his cane, Courfeyrac so at ease with his glass of wine, Combeferre looking at Enjolras with a very sweet smile, Jehan with his long, Bohemian hair, Grantaire not paying attention at all, and, of course, Enjolras in the center, glowing in the lamplight and looking out to the bright future dawning on the horizon. It's so fabulous.

Oh, this is the best thing I've seen all day. Really it is. And I say this having just uncovered a new Brick illustration that features Montparnasse. The level of detail! I keep going back and forth between the two pictures, marvelling at yours and scoffing at the original. I wish there could be a fan-illustrated and fan-translated Les Mis. We'd clear up so many problems.

That picture is genuinely fantastic. I just love being able to recognise all the boys at once without having to make tentative guesses. And Courfeyrac just makes me giggle. I love your Bahorel too for some reason. I guess his goatee thingy is particularly striking.

Ohhh migawd.

UM this is perhaps the hottest thing I've ever seen. I keep staring at it and forgetting to do other things... like breathe...

His expression and his hair and the buttons on his coat and his waistcoat.

Um, brb, drooling forever. I might be more coherent later...

NEW DESKTOP BACKGROUND.

This replaced Florent Mothe and Mélissa Mars looking hot okay because this is hotter.

Haha, collectingbees, I'm not sure whether I translated my reaction to internet, but rest assured that I definitely flipped at least one script.

So chuffed you like it, Loony! You might recognise the pose - it's from one of your Monparnasse "Inspiration" pics from the visual sources thread! I softened his face a bit to indicate his youth, darkened his features, re-dressed him etc etc. And gave him the essential Montparnasse hat! (Hats are big with me at the moment - I found the perfect vintage collpsible opera hat, with extra curl in the brim and its original box!). I'll give you the original sketch in Paris.

MmeBahorel,Aurelia, Ulkis and 9430 many thanks! (I should break down to individual comments, but just realised I have only 15 minutes before I need to get to the gym). The hotness quotient is all...and Montparnasse is such an excuse to go to town on the whole dark and sultry angle. Perfect foil for Enjolras' distant, beautiful, abstract visage. Courfeyrac is somewhere in between - more down to earth, in between the two in terms of colouring...idealistic, but earthy and warm, and of course an excuse for dandyism.

That's a huge compliment from a Montparnasse connoisseur, Collectingbees!

Gor-gee-ous! Very, very darkly hot ... and I think Courfeyrac may have some competition in terms of fabulous hair -- those curls are sublime! His eyes are pretty attractive too -- and his lips -- and his nose -- and his clothes -- well, everything!

Oddly enough, it my new desktop as well! XD

This was the very first thing I saw the morning she posted it, and all I could think of was "hot damn, I can't wait to see the reactions of pure glee to this..."

I guess this means I have to post the picture of Montparnasse and Courfeyrac's duking it out now, don't I? ;)
