Ohhhh... long-haired Enjolras. :D I sort of just stared at his hair for several lovely long minutes. I want to pet him (Courfeyrac's prior claims be damned). He's gorgeous. :D And I enjoy the expression on his face -- like he's got too much to think about to spend the time caring about frivolous things like coat or cravat beforehand.

Ooooh, gorgeous. And I love his expression.

Ooh, Despard, this is my favorite of all your Enjolras pics ever! I feel like you changed something in his face from what you usually do, though. Did you? I like the fact that there's just this little hint of flusterd-ness beneath the calm.

Thanks, guys :) Yes, he's meant to look like he's in a hurry, because there's something to be done and he wants to get out the door and Courfeyac, what ARE you doing? Your cravat? Who cares about your cravat? And yes I'm wearing this coat - it's a coat! It's fine! Let's move!

Except Enjolras would never say all that. It would just be "Courfeyrac! We're leaving now!"

Oh yeah, I definitely could imagine Enjolras saying that. And getting a few well-meaning eye rolls (or an innocent smile) from Courfeyrac.

Ahhh, Despard!! I've finally worked up the courage to post (because my social skills are so awful I feel embarassed to post...sigh). I've honestly spent hours staring at your gorgeous artwork. This piece in particular just seems so in character.

Yes, he's meant to look like he's in a hurry, because there's something to be done and he wants to get out the door and Courfeyac, what ARE you doing? Your cravat? Who cares about your cravat? And yes I'm wearing this coat - it's a coat! It's fine! Let's move!

I adore your explanation for it. Totally made my day. I can't wait to see more of your work!

I am sooooooooo late in reviewing this, but that doesn't make this a smidge elss awesome. IT is so fabulous- Enjolras's expression of amused tolerance at whatever Courfeyrac's doing, and yet total indifference to it at the same time. There are barricades to build, and the motion of the picture is just gorgeous!

Hah! Chuckling at that , Collectingbees! Poor Enjolras: even putting on a coat becomes an epic moment.

And extremely pleased you liked him, Marguerite - your characterisation of his expression is just what I was aiming for.

[Ridiculously late comment - sorry!]

As always, I love your rendering of vintage clothing - I was spending ages staring at the coat and the waistcoat and enjoying the movement of the fabric. I like the ambiguity of the picture, as well as Enjolras' expression: is he putting on the coat? taking it off? One thing's for certain, though - Courfeyrac isn't going to be retying that cravat; he's going to be *supplying* E with a fresh one!
