Miscellaneous Portraits

Postby Olivia_y » Tue Jul 02, 2013 3:55 pm

A while ago I got interested in digital drawings and bought my very first graphics tablet (yay shiny new toy :D!), and since Les Mis has pretty much taken over my life (since last Christmas) it seemed to make sense to combine these two interests .

(When I was a child I used to love drawing, but I haven't done much of it for a long time, add to that the challenge of using a new medium and it's quite a learning curve...)

These are awesome. I wish I could do this. I wish I could draw people freehand. *is terribly envious*

Oh, wow, Olivia, these are gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. I love the expressions, especially; there seems to be so much emotion packed into each look, even when you've just used a few simple lines, but I really love them, so thank you for sharing.

They're all great, but your Enjolras is especially gorgeous. He's so young and innocent and passionate and it's great, just great. :D

These are AMAZING, Olivia! I especially love the expressions Enjolras has, it really seems just like how I would imagine him. :D

*jawdrops*

These are amazing. Your drawings of Enjolras had me stunned; that is exactly, exactly how I imagine him too. Especially the third drawing.

On my goodness, your Éponine looks just like Sam Barks. And I love your Enjolras, Grantaire and Combeferre as well!

Thanks guys for being so kind :D  !

One more of Grantaire: http://olivia-ylm.tumblr.com/image/55600446865
I started this one about three times, but something about it still just doesn't feel right...and it's probably because I've spent way too long looking at the damn thing but I can't decipher exactly what's wrong (or if everything's wrong :? )...but...yeah...time to move on  .

Interesting expression. As if he's imagining a Greek god.

Hello all! I come bearing another drawing of Enjolras:
http://olivia-ylm.tumblr.com/image/56774312302

Random sidenote: I don't know if it happens to all people who draw, but I never feel like any drawing is ever finished...it's always like "need to fix this bit...then this bit...and still this bit..."; I really need to know how to tell when to just let something go! :x

Nice! I really like the texture you've got going on his clothes :)

Yup, know that feeling. And also the thing where there is no middle ground between "not finished yet" and "overworked it and now it's rubbish"...

Thanks guys  , (and texture is damn annoying...)

I guess one good of the good things about digital drawing is the undo function  ; this is why I have so much admiration for people who can draw well in traditional mediums (like you :D !)
