Re: West End 2014/2015

I didn't even think to check the main page instead of just twitter sleuthing. Yay, it's official!

Hmm, it says Adam Linstead is in the company but doesn't say what role.

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

I wouldn't worry about the cuts ruining your enjoyment. I hadn't known the CSR for very long before seeing the show last October, but I knew every word, and I find the story just flows as it is. The show is so quick and well-paced that I think you forget about the cuts. It wouldn't have kept going i...

Re: West End 2014/2015

That's great Rachelle! Did you have the ticket before this casting news came out? I was considering seeing Les Mis in June since I'll be in London anyway but unfortunately it's pre-cast change and since hearing the news I think I just won't bother this time. If recent twitter follows by other cast m...

Re: Shows that you hate yourself for missing

I was offered a free ticket to see Phantom on tour in 2012 with JOJ and Katie Hall and I turned.it.down.

Re: West End 2014/2015

I am absolutely delighted about...erm, Thackovert? I wasn't into Les Mis when he was Enjolras and I think we're so lucky to have him back. It's a dream role of his. He'll knock Stars out of the water, like, he will just kill it. I don't even want to imagine his Soliloquy. There's his whole history w...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

I love the progression of the movie ads posted here, it's like they started with great hopes of releasing it in 92, then delays pushed the provisional release date to 93 and finally everyone had to deal with the fact that filming would only begin in 93... until the ads just taper off.

Re: French Response to Les Mis

Ah, so it wasn't just serendipity! <3 Judi in that interview.

Interesting criticism of the costumes and sets in the 2012 movie from one of my favourite blogs: http://awesomefrench.tumblr.com/post/43 ... bles-thing

Re: French Response to Les Mis

A photo of the Judi Dench thing literally just came up on my Tumblr dash! http://gdelgiproducer.tumblr.com/post/81195833454/thefleetstreetvicomte-thefleetstreetvicomte I wonder if those critics who write off the original's three-month-run as a flop (a) are being lazy and haven't bothered to learn th...

Re: French Response to Les Mis

Here's another article about the 2010 stop. Fascinating anecdote about Judi Dench! (Wonder if this was before or after her attending the TAC?) http://www.lexpress.fr/culture/musique/memorables-miserables_894882.html Also, an American opinion on the French reaction to the Paris revival, back in 1991:...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

deHavilland and Acaila, your jobs sound awesome. My research area is law, which I love. I'm sort of regretting not watching the Oscars. Most of what you need to know will be online somewhere, along with the excellent parodies ;) When I rewatched it I found myself fastforwarding through all the speec...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

And nothing can top last year... Well, of course not  I've only seen one of the best picture nominees, but watching the Oscars live is a major tradition for me. This will be my fifteenth year in a row. Gotta support my industry. Ooh, what do you do? And Acaila, what do you teach? Not sure if ...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

And the Broadway revival begins... tonight! The previews, anyway. So excited for everyone involved! If you've not seen it, Armando Iannucci's Time Trumpet is also very funny, though a totally different thing. Haven't seen it, it looks excellent so I must check it out. Annoyingly, we don't get BBC pl...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

Prisoner 24653, I don't know of any others either... Acaila, you're the second Scottish person I know who loves The Thick Of It, I wonder why?! :D I thought the Irish had the monopoly on creative swearing but nope! I just love Peter Capaldi. Veep is basically the US version of TTOI and it's also wri...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

This is all very good to know about Sherlock! I'll definitely catch it on Netflix and watch it from the start.

Anyone watch The Thick of It or Veep, speaking of political shows? They're very different from the West Wing but I love them. Roger Allam had a recurring role in The Thick of It.

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

Aw, I do think puppies are like babies in a lot of ways! I must get into Sherlock but I'll probably have to start with the first episode. I tried to watch the second episode of the second series but it seemed like you had to be familiar with the characters first. Is it available online? I saw all of...
