Re: Musical Movie?

Me too. I would like to see a barricade of a fair size, as I felt the one in the 1998 movie was a bit small in all honesty. It would be brilliant too if they could possibly work Enjolras' and Grantaire's book deaths into it, but it's unlikely. They'll probably go for the more symbolic look of Enjolr...

Re: Book!Javert: Evil or misguided? Please discuss.

While the musical gives you the impression that he's constantly hunting him, I don't think it's like that in the book to be honest. I get the impression that he would've been nagged by it for a while when he lost him in Paris, but while it may have stayed in the back of his mind, I think he largely ...

Re: Les Amis as schoolteachers?

I agree with what Aurelia said. Still though, I could imagine them as teachers with mixed results. Combeferre could obviously make a good one, however Grantaire would be rather entertaining.

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain: Les Nouveaux Amis chat page

In case you guys are wondering why I haven't posted anything yet, I'm sort of wary about doing it on this page without permission of everyone who was in it. If you want some, then PM me and I'll maybe be able to get a couple of cast photos as soon as possible to you.

Re: Book!Javert: Evil or misguided? Please discuss.

I don't think that he's really evil at all. He certainly doesn't think of himself as evil and believes that what he's doing is good, however even if it isn't particularly good for him to do so, in hunting down an en-convict who is in run from the law, he is just doing his job at the end of the day. ...

Re: If there were no Brick...

Personally, I was introduced to the musical first, before I understood about the fact that there was a very long book on it, and that the book was the original story, as opposed to the musical being so. I still enjoyed the story of the musical anyway, without the book. For me though, the book just a...

Re: School Edition

Now my school edition is done, I think this is a better place to review it out of anywhere. You'll probably think I'm biased, but having watched back the DVD's of two nights and seeing both casts on the DVD after being in it, I'm not really being biased. I'll go through each scene giving my thoughts...

Re: Wishful Thinking: Making Your Own Movie?

If I was doing my own, I'd choose not to focus on the usual story that we have throughout the musical, but I'd take another characters story, and put them in the central role. An example would be the revolution, with Enjolras and the rest of the students, including Marius, being the focus of the mov...

Re: Um, hi everyone!

Yeah, it's a good place to be able to do that. I've been able to have plenty of in depth discussions about Les Mis recently, but there are a lot who only really understand the musical and don't know all those extra little things about characters in the book that makes it even better than it already ...

Stupid things you've heard people say about Les Mis

Obviously, as fans of the musical, a lot of us have had the chance to see it several times and now understand the story without any trouble. For people who have only seen it the once though, it may not be as easy and they may become confused with it at points and not understand what's going on, lead...

Re: Saddest Miz moment?

The Drink With Me reprise during the Dawn of Anguish and the Finale never cease to bring me close to tears. It's just when you think about it all you realise how sad it is. These guys have pretty much realised and accepted that they're going to die by this point of the musical, and they're remember...

Aurelia Combeferre wrote:For me, reading the Brick is a way for me NOT to get a wink of sleep.

Same for me. When I was reading it, I sometimes just sat up to all hours going through so much of it, and completely lost track of having any idea of what the time actually was.

Re: 10th Vs. 25th Anniversary Concert

TAC. Now and forever. Both of these anniversaries were concerts for the most part. Thus, I would think quality in voices/singing would far outweigh anything visual. It seems that the majority of people here like the 25th as something more visual but would play it with the sound off. Personally spea...
