Re: Recording a free "audiobook" of Les Mis?

I would love to do this too, I love reading aloud. I think it would be a terrific forum project. As for chapter preferences, I would do anything that allows me to avoid revealing my godawful French pronunciation.

Here is the first footnote from Julie Rose in this book: According to the Hugo legend, 24601 is a tribute to the day the great poet was conceived (June 24, 1801), on a mountaintop in the Vosges. I'm not sure how many people knew about that already, but I certainly didn't. How delightful. I liked the...

Re: General Chatter

My favourite part is that the revolters demanded fraternities. Because I know that if I were going to overthrow the government, it would definitely be because we didn't have any fraternities. A Tale of Two Sisters is actually a Korean horror film. Now I'm annoyed with myself because I can't think of...

Oh goodness, I had to go get my Wilbour translation to read some of this part. I feel like it's an entirely different Javert I'm reading, particularly in the way he addresses Fantine after Valjean asks leave to get Cosette. I suppose that a lot of it has to do with the context of the translation, ok...

Re: Occasional Pics: Samhain Courfeyrac

Well he is just gorgeous! You're getting very good at faces and facial expressions, I am quite sure I'm about to fall madly in love with Courfeyrac. The cat mask is beautiful and detailed as well. The teal colour and peacock feathers were great ideas. I think I'm as excited about your foray into dig...

Re: 25th Anniversary Concert

I was a little bit disappointed by the number of technical malfunctions. Even if it was someone's microphone not working properly for just a few seconds, it really throws you off. I did, however, quite like Samantha Barks. I saw her on her first night in London, and was underwhelmed by her acting, b...

Re: 1.3 En l'année 1817/In the Year 1817 28/09/10-6/10/10

How does Julie Rose get 86 just for the one chapter? These are the 32 from Rosa, and why do I doubt Rose tells us about Chateaubriand taking his clothes off? (If she's just explaining things one can Google, that's one thing - is she going into the sort of connective depth Rosa did?) Oh, forgive me,...

Re: If you were cast... who would you play?

I'm a soprano, which basically leaves me with no other choice for a major character than Cosette. I probably could sing either Éponine or Fantine, but it wouldn't be pretty. Madame Thenardier is right out. I love the male roles, but I couldn't sing them. That's okay though, because I'm pretty sure I...

Re: Musical on DVD?

It seems ridiculous to me that they are releasing a DVD of the 25th Anniversary Concert. Are there any other musicals with two concert DVDs? Plus, after all the effort that's clearly gone into creating the tour production it's a shame they're not recording that one while they're going big on the cel...

Re: Les Mis Cartoons - E et E

Éponine looks like a true romantic heroine, Mme Thenardier would be so proud! E/E used to be my favourite crack pairing, it's so bizarre and hilarious. These days though, it usually just makes me want to tear my brain out. So, um, thank you :D It's nice to get a good laugh out of this trope again. (...

"The beautiful is just as useful as the useful." (Chapter VI) This quote gets me. I agree with it, and I believe that it's not completely out of character for the bishop in his wisdom. But I can't think of anything else about him that points to this attitude. Well, there's the silverware, ...
