Re: US Tour, WPB, FL

I found this on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIjoJ1LS5pM I don't know how much of that cast is the same as the one you saw, but Jason Forbach has certainly already won me over. Wow, he's something special. The whole cast in general sounds amazing. I'm so disappointed I can't get to see th...

Re: HARRY POTTER!!!!!!!

I assume most people on this thread have heard of A Very Potter Musical. Yes? Good. Well, last year I was in the Australian premiere production (There are a couple of clips up on Youtube, here's Get Back to Hogwarts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LchV4KaCwQ ) as Lavender Brown, and now she's my se...

Re: Musical Movie?

So, based on the presence of Napoleon's elephant and the sheer size of that damn furniture wall, am I the only one who suspects Tom Hooper is conflating the barricade where the action takes place with the monstrous barricade of the Rue Saint-Antoine for dramatic reasons? It definitely looks like th...

Re: The Good Karma Thread

Goodness me, the Good Karma Thread needs a bump! We got our uni results today... Aside from a little blip with Law (How did I manage to do worse in my exam than in my horrendously rushed midsemester essay?) I'm very pleased. I'd been expecting Distinctions for my other three subjects, but ended up w...

Robert Gildea's Children of the Revolution

This might belong better in the Nerdy Fannish Research section, but anyway. Has anybody here picked this up? What's the verdict on this book? I found it heavily discounted in a bookstore today, so I haven't had time to have a good look at it yet. It does look very pretty.

That is brilliant news, Despard! If this isn't a champagne-worthy occasion, I don't know what is!

Re: What are you reading?

Finished my exams for this semester on Saturday, so I can finally make a serious attack on the reading/re-reading pile. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b90/gypsyglam613/photo-1.jpg Has anyone else read the new translation of The Second Sex? I've read bits and pieces of the first one at the library...

Welcome Chris, it's great to have you here! I don't actually have any tickets of leave lying around, unfortunately, gee now I want one too!

It's funny how one can never quite stay away from LM. I hope you enjoy being a member of Abaissé :)

Thanks, MmeBahorel! Are you talking about my iPhone? That comment is actually from last year, so Catherine is definitely not shiny and new any more! I thought it was a fitting name because it was beautiful and I would carry it everywhere (except probably not into a convent).

Re: 4.9 Où vont-ils?/Where are They Going? 22/5/11-24/5/11

This book is one of the saddest ones in the whole Brick for me! That poor old dear Mabeuf, in particular, breaks my heart. It's wonderful how your first sense of the beginning of the revolt is from such a mellow and dispirited perspective. It really shows up the aliveness of the revolution, but also...
