Re: If Abaissé suddenly turned into a 404 Not Found...

I only discovered this site about 6 or 8 months ago, but I really love it! Are you definitely against ads? I'm involved with a "Beauty and the Beast" fan forum that's hosted on Invisionfree; it doesn't cost anything, and there's just one spot on the page where the ads show up, always in th...

Re: Not sure where to put this, just want to ask...

I can't speak for slash in general, but Valjean/Javert to me is obvious: they are completely obsessed with each other. Someone once said "The opposite of love is not hate; it's indifference." In other words, obsessive hatred is a very strong, passionate emotion, which easily lends itself t...

Re: New book about Les Misérables

The book itself is $27, so it would only be $23 worth of junk, LOL.

Re: Lines I like

One of my favourite places in the brick is when Fauchelevent gets stuck under the cart and they all discuss how to get him out, the difficulties and such and Javert is just like "I knew a man once who could do that". Talk about being unhelpful   ROFL!!! I love Javert. What I lov...

Re: Lines I like

I don't have the book in front of me, so I won't be able to quote it. But my all-time favorite moment in the book is when Valjean is trying to get to the trial of Champmathieu, and the wagon wheel breaks, and he's asking if he can get it fixed, or get a replacement wagon, and there's nothing anyone ...

Re: New book about Les Misérables

Amazon has it for pre-order; it seems that it's being released in the U.S. in March. Amazon has free shipping if you order $50 or more.

Scarf with "Les Mis" excerpt

Please feel free to move this to a more appropriate section (I couldn't find a "Les Mis Merchandise" thread!) I just bought this GORGEOUS "Les Mis" scarf from Storiarts. As you can see, it has the "candlestick scene" from the book printed on it: http://i23.photobucket.c...

Re: The Rant thread

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the first three verses of At the End of the Day sung by the beggars living on the street and not the factory workers? The first singing in the factory is "At the end of the day you get nothing for nothing, sitting flat on your bum doesn't buy any bread."...

Re: Turning

It could mean that after the battle, the bodies were laid out in rows (side by side) to be collected by loved ones for burial. But I like your idea better, that they were metaphorically side by side because they fought together. Nice interpretation!

Re: Songs that make you think of characters?

LOL, I haven't seen "Wicked," so I had no clue! I just heard that song on Sirius XM "On Broadway" and immediately thought "Éponine!" :)

Re: Songs that make you think of characters?

"I'm Not That Girl" from Wicked would be a perfect Éponine song (heck, you could swap it out for "On My Own" and it would make all the same points, LOL): Hands touch, eyes meet Sudden silence, sudden heat Hearts leap in a giddy whirl He could be that boy But I'm not that girl Don...
