Re: What are you reading?

Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. I'm loving the show so I got the book. Definitely recommending both, it's Napoleonic era with magic.

Re: What other musicals need a new movie?

Oh, yes to Catherine Tate! Give me my lovely, plump ginger Lovett I'm used to, not some waifish goth who can't even put on a damn apron in the kitchen. Elisabeth could make a good movie if they got the cast right. I'd definitely have Death as a crossdressing actress, I prefer Takarazuka Deaths over ...

Re: Wishful Thinking: Making Your Own Movie?

If we go for non-musical, I'd make a BBC miniseries, about 8-10 episodes. A few casting ideas: - David Bradley for Thénardier, as mentioned in another thread. He's appropriately weasel-like. - Idris Elba for Valjean. He's the right age and I could believe he can lift a cart. Plus he's really good in...

Re: 64 italian miniseries

I'm currently watching this (6 episodes in) and so far I'm squeeing because it has so many little book things. They even showed Valjean and Cosette living in the Gorbeau house and the coffin escape! So far the only thing I didn't like was the Waterloo play. It's just godawful. I get it's meta in a &...

About Notre-Dame: which movie/tv adaptation is closest to the book?

I have only seen Disney (which is good in itself but very far from he book, plus they made Claude really over-the-top evil) and the live-action movie from about the same period (that awkward moment when Real!Dumbledore and Inigo Montoya fight over Salma Hayek). Is there any adaptation that does it j...

Re: Visual Inspirations for Characters

Jorah is busy Éponine-ing but he doesn't really look the part.

For Valjean, Davos (if Stannis is Javert).

Re: Visual Inspirations for Characters

He'd be better off being Javert than having to play this butchered version of Stannis... Also, baby Shireen was apparently in Les Mis when she was younger. Out of GoT actors: David Bradley would be an excellent Thénardier. He has that weasel-rat look and a long history of playing assholes. I think t...

Re: Visual Inspirations for Characters

And that train station kid from Korra is totally Gavroche.

Mako would make a good Marius. He's got the broody whiner part down perfectly but he can be really reckless in battle.

Re: Musical Movie Reviews/Discussion

Ok, been a while since I've seen this in cinema, but here's what I remember of my impressions... Overall I'd give it about 8/10. It definitely delivered in the feels department, it looked beautiful and it added a couple small book things that didn't make it to the stage. I liked that they rearranged...

Hello!

I'm glad there is a Les Mis forum, the reddit community I found isn't too active. My favourites are Javert, Mabeuf and Enjolras. Other fandoms include Avatar and Legend of Korra, A Song of Ice and Fire, pre-Moffat era Doctor Who (I got fed up with his bs), and the Sano Ichiro mysteries (not enough f...
