Re: Hello!

Hi _23623_! I'm not on here alot because I have a lot of school things to do, but I was checking to see what I missed. I'm also a Chinese speaker! 你好! But I'm not that fluent, although I grew up in a Taiwanese American Chinese-and-English-speaking household. The Chinese translations of Les Mis names...

Re: The Phantom of the Opera

Wow, James Barbour was the Jean Valjean in a regional production of Les Mis that I saw last year! I thought he sounded like he was imitating Colm Wilkinson, but it was probably just for the role...? I haven't really any other recordings with him. And yeah, his "personal life" is...awkward ...

Re: What other musicals need a new movie?

You're right...I guess the live musical trend is going to deflate pretty quickly, since there are only so many quality kid-friendly musicals out there besides some of the Rodgers and Hammerstein ones, especially since the end of the golden age of musicals and the violent/punk/rock/tragedy musicals w...

Re: What other musicals need a new movie?

Kind of off topic, but in a perfect world CBS would get on the tv musicals thing and do a Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella Live! live broadcast with Julie Andrews as the fairy godmother. /long sigh/ (I think the problem with Peter Pan Live! was that it's not a relatively well known musical like Th...

Re: The Phantom of the Opera

I've been hearing a lot about ABC Phantom on tumblr, and so far what I've gathered is: 1. It's going to be based on the novel, and it won't be a musical (though there will be music). 2. It hasn't been greenlighted yet, they are currently writing the pilot. 3. It's set in the "sexy cutthroat wor...

Movie Costume Design

A while ago I went to movie costumes exhibit at a costume museum, and they had on display some of the costumes from Les Mis 2012 like Marius's outfit and wedding suit, Cosette's wedding dress, Éponine's barricade outfit, Valjean's suit, and Fantine's factory uniform. I just found the brochure I pick...

Re: Bonjour tout le monde!

Hello! Don't worry about your English, you made no major mistakes! :D
I'm also pretty new here and was also introduced to Les Mis through the movie. I also speak a little Chinese (my family is from Taiwan) and I overuse the word "also."
Hope to see you around...

Re: Coincidences related to Les Mis

In Phantom mafia no one is killed, only scared away from the Opera Populaire. Also, the Persian is the nurse and Raoul is the policeman.

Re: Coincidences related to Les Mis

I've been volunteering at a Girl Scout summer camp for the past couple years, and this year's theme is musical theatre. (my fantasizing must have paid off... ) Anyway I just got the hat and shirt I'm supposed to wear and they are no other color than red and black, respectively! I'm probably going to...

Re: Meta: First Names

If anyone cares about accuracy, I found this website a while ago: http://www.histoire-prenoms.com It's in French, but it's pretty easy to navigate if you don't speak. If you type in a name it will display a graph of its popularity in France since 1600. I've found this incredibly helpful when headcan...

Re: Random things you've noticed

I can't believe it's taken me that long to notice this one: Alright so, obviously red has a very strong presence in the movie. The flag is red. Enjolras' coat is red. A world about to dawn is red. Basically, red is the color of the revolution. If you've paid attention in art class, you know that the...

Re: Make your own sentence: Les Mis edition

I married Victor Hugo because Les Mis wasn't long enough??

Oddly, this makes some sense.

Hi there!

Bonjour and Happy Barricade Day! I was going to mastermind my registration to happen on June 5, 18:32 military time but...my internet... Anyways, I have been a fan for a year and a half (i.e. since the movie) and am looking forward to possibly seeing the stage production for the first time this summ...
