Re: I don't even know your name

I'm jealous of you, going to that Toronto production! You'll have to tell me how awesome Karimloo is live.

And I guess he got what he wanted. Here we are, talking about Enjolras&Grantaire.

Re: DISCUSSION: The E&R relationship

My opinion on the E/R relationship: Enjolras does not love Grantaire at all. In the Brick he can barely tolerate him and in the musical/ movie he's no closer to him than he is to any of the other Amis. Grantaire greatly admires and idolizes Enjolras but is not romantically in love wirh him. He love...

I've often thought that Enjolras doesn't lack a heart, I just think he hid it.

Re: DISCUSSION: The E&R relationship

the personal qualities that make Enjolras capable of being a Revolutionary Ideal, those fascinate Grantaire, because they're exactly the qualities he lacks. (This cuts both ways. Grantaire, to whom affection and loyalty come naturally, has the heart that Enjolras lacks when we're first introduced t...

Very true. Still, I think age is important - or at least how old they appear to be. I couldn't take Madge seriously just 'cos he looked nearly grown.

Re: Favorite Song

Right now my memory produces the image of Robert Madge delivering the lines in the 25th concert...I'm too lazy to verify myself though. Ha knew it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=hnJKqHtlR4M#t=54 Well done brain, well done. Have some food as reward. Did anyone else thi...

You can hear them on the Complete Symphonic Recording, or on the 25th Anniversary Tour CD IIRC.

Thanks! I'll be sure to look it up.

Re: DISCUSSION: The E&R relationship

I agree with the second part of the theory (Enjolras is not madly in love with Grantaire). As for the Grantaire as idolizing Enjolras....yes that is true. But it's idolization taken to an extreme that borders on obsession and self-abasement. Yes, I think Grantaire's idolization of Enjolras is defin...

Re: DISCUSSION: The E&R relationship

You don't have to read Grantaire as being in love with Enjolras if you don't want to, it's a valid interpretation either way--but no, actively denying that Grantaire's ~feelings about Enjolras could be anything but platonic is not "a point most of us will agree on." No, you must have misu...

Re: Favorite Song

I'd put Stars as my favorite solo number-however it's still ruined for me by the Gavroche lines afterwards. Wish they would simply put them after "clear this garbage off the street!"-as they originally (Barbican) were. All that fiddling in recent years and they never came up with that ide...

DISCUSSION: The E&R relationship

Okay, I realize this is a touchy subject, so I'm going to say a couple things before I address the topic: (1) I have not yet read the Brick, therefore anything and everything I say will be based off the musical versions I've seen and what I've read about the characters on wikis and small paragraphs ...

Re: Not sure where to post a topic

I think "Brick Meta" would probably be the most appropriate place to stick a thread examining their relationship. While you might not have read it yet, a number of other users who might comment will have. It's very difficult to get a good reading on what their relationship is based only o...

Not sure where to post a topic

I want to create a sort of discussion-type topic about trying to figure out what E&R's relationship really is, but I'm not sure where to post it. I haven't read the book (yet!), only seen the concert versions of the musical, so I hesitate to put it under 'The Brick' forum, but, at the same time,...
