Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

Breaking: Nigel Farage is a wanker. More at ten. http://i100.independent.co.uk/article/this-is-not-a-spoof-nigel-farage-wants-to-legalise-discrimination--xJZYfzypTx And of course the disenfranchised youth (in my area) are voting for him, because what the working classes need is an ex-tory banker. On...

Re: Video games?

I would recommend LoL over DotA. I've found that most people find it more easy to understand, though both have fairly toxic communities -- I refuse to believe that it's purely because I suck. Games I have played (or replayed) recently are: Gunpoint - a good, if perhaps not for everyone, narrative. Th...

Star Wars!

For discussion of anything pertaining to the Star Wars universe. This will most likely get spoiler-y very quickly, so I would at least recommend watching the original trilogy and possibly the prequel trilogy, if you don't mind some awful storytelling. To avoid spoiling anything in the first post, I'...

Re: Philip Quast as Javert...All of my yes.

I can understand that (to some extent), to be honest. The movie is the most easily accessible fully blocked version of Les Mis, and when compared to the not at all blocked TAC, or the not even visual CSR, it can give a less enjoyable experience. Though Quast is my favourite Javert not only in spite ...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

It might make a nice change of pace, but they do sort of try to make a point of saying that Jedi Knights aren't necessarily about physically fighting unless it's absolutely necessary. But lightsabers make for such a marketable commodity, they gave them to everyone . Even the little five year old je...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

I must say, if there's anything I didn't understand about the hate of the prequels, it's the lightsaber fights - with the exception of any involving Yoda: I'm of the mindset that his wisdom is made less significant when starts attacking someone swinging a deadly weapon at them 20 times a second - Th...

Re: Stupid things you've heard people say about Les Mis

Not quite stupid, but perhaps a reason why the TAC idea for indoctrinating new people into the fandom (although they claimed to have read the brick; knowing them it would have been a heavily abridged version): 'How did Valjean manage to become mayor if he was still on parole, and being looked at as ...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

I thought it was a general consensus, but it might not be. I couldn't tell as I've only seen Attack of the Clones and Phantom Menace once and I was stupidly young; I definitely do not want to watch the others after seeing that. I think it might because Darth Vader and his arc of redemption is a stap...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

I tried watching Revenge of the Sith a short time ago, due to remembering liking it aged 8 or so when it came out in cinemas. 8 year old me was an eejit. The characters are all wafer thin, the plot has a billion threads going on at once and the pseudo political nonsense is very dull. Not to mention ...

Re: Your first experience of Les Mis

I recently realised that I actually watched the 25th anniversary concert from MOTH onward some time before the film came out, and could have probably explained the plot from that point onward, if that counts.
If not, definitely the movie. I'm quite glad for that.

Re: West End Cast - 2013/2014

Yeah, I thought the cast were pretty amazing (though atm, I'm not sure my word can't be taken as gospel, as I've only seen it once and I'm only on part 4 of the Brick). I was initially disappointed for the lack of Geronimo Rauch (didn't realise that until the night as I was trying to get through the...

Re: Pet Peeves?

Most shouting that leads into singing (or shouting with weird inflections). Most of the time, it seems to be at some point during Javert's soliloquy I don't know why, I guess it just sounds extremely unnatural to me. Whatever reason it is, it completely draws me out of the experience. Because of thi...

Re: Hello there

Haven't quite seen it yet. Got the opportunity of the 25th anniversary tour (though from what I've heard it's not the most revered version), but I was in my philistine phase. I'm seeing it on the 24th in London though. :D To say being excited was an understatement would be an understatement.
