A Man Like Him- Bossuet drabble (Major character death!)

A bullet connected with Bossuet's shoulder and with a sharp gasp, he fell back onto the barricade. He barely had any time to comprehend what had happened to him before a soldier was on top of him, his bayonet raised and the metal glinting in a sort of bloodthirsty glory. The last thing that Bossuet ...

Re: writing Patron-Minette?

Okay, so I just went insane and wrote an essay on Montparnasse. I'm not sure if any of this makes sense because it's absurdly complicated and disjointed, but- Okay, so it was in reply to this tumblr post: One of the things I love so much about Montparnasse as a fictional character is the question if...

Rather Unexpected Meaning of the Boots Pun (Possibly NSFW)

So, I know that the tumblr Les Mis fandom is typically sort of scorned, but let me tell you right now that we heathens (or at least a select group of us) do our homework! Specifically, we love dissecting puns- and considering all the puns in Les Mis, and the fact that most of the scenes in the book ...

Re: Rachel Attempts to Write A Review (And Fails Miserably)

I love Bolger's Éponine! She's just so brickish. And it's coming to New York next year, so you can see it then. :) And yes, yes, yes, Sarah Lark for Fantine. Or she could get out of Les Mis entirely and be Nancy in Oliver, because she'd be a good Nancy and I'm still mad that she didn't make it furt...

Re: Visual Inspirations for Characters

Okay, I have an absurd amount of these, so, here I go. http://teresasdollhouse.webs.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=183587159 This girl is my Éponine. I have no idea who she is- I think she's some kind of Cosplayer. She just worked so well for my vision of Éponine while reading the brick that she just...

Re: Rachel Attempts to Write A Review (And Fails Miserably)

Now I want to know more about Rob. Yay for good Marii! Still not sure how I feel about Linstead yet, but after hearing so many good reviews I'm starting to like him. And YES, Sarah Lark is awesome. She need's to play Éponine, or Fantine, or SOMEONE, because she has a big, great voice and can handle ...

Re: Characters when they were younger

I'm back, with more baby!Amis! Jehan - This one I find really interesting, because it took a lot of thinking to figure him out. He isn't the most simple character to begin with, and writing him can be a real challenge at times- but figuring out why he's like that- ugh. Anyway, right from the start J...

Oh god. Now I'm starting to ship this, based on this thread alone. This is not good.

Re: 1.8 Contre-Coup/Counter-Blow 06/11/10-10/11/10

And thus we are finished with Volume One, and good god this was a depressing one, folks. To recap: Fantine's dead, Valjean's may as well be since he's now on the run and we all know how that 's going to turn out, Cosette is undergoing severe childhood trauma and Javert is in agonies over tracking do...

Re: 1.8 Contre-Coup/Counter-Blow 06/11/10-10/11/10

Argh, no, Fantine!

I always felt so sorry for Fantine here- she died knowing that all the hope that she had clung to- of seeing Cosette again, of Madeleine saaving them both- were gone. The first time I read this, I cried.

Surviving the Barricades

I've been thinking recently: it was obvious in the book that they were all doomed pretty much after Le Cabuc's execution- Enjolras said it and Combeferre agreed. Hugo states that once they sent the five men out, they were all trapped. But let us say that, hypothetically, some men did escape the barr...

Re: Comedic anti-climatic moments

Okay, I suck at this.... Musical verse: Montparnasse shows up early to the robbery and instead of meeting Éponine Cosette spots him and he ends up awkwardly joining her in A Heart Full of Love, while Éponine and Marius are just watching from the shadows. Marius is crying and Éponine's laughing her a...

Re: Stupid things you've heard people say about Les Mis

This was between me and my aunt last month. Me: I just watched Les Mis again. Aunt: That sad movie? M: Yep, that one. You saw it? A: Yeah, everyone dies. M: Not EVERYONE. A: No, the girl lives, and so does Jean. M: (Wondering if she means Prouvaire) Jean? A: Yeah, the guy who stole the police guy's-...

Re: 1.6 Javert 23/10/10-24/10/10

That's sort of funny that ONLY Javert cares about getting the real Valjean compared to the actual court who carry out the laws he's so dedicated to. That's why it annoys me when people call Javert a villian, because he's not . He's a cop going after a man who committed a crime- a good man, but still...

Re: 1.6 Javert 23/10/10-24/10/10

Oh god... the scary thing is how easily one can go from basically no evidence that a man did anything wrong in the first place to 'he's an escaped convict OMG'. I mean, Jean Valjean- Jean Mathieu- Chan Mathieu- Champmathieu. Oh god, it's so scarily plausible too... to think that everyone's just read...
