Re: Directing Les Mis

Thank you! I haven't directed it yet, but I can perhaps offer some assistance. Rights will usually depend on several factors - number of performances, size of auditorium and price of tickets. For a big license show like Les Mis, there will probably be additional restrictions such as a certain number...

Directing Les Mis

Has anyone here directed Les Mis? I plan to direct it, but I need details. I'm starting from scratch. How much does everything cost? Especially the rights to put on a certain number of performances. How did you raise the money? How did you create the set, especially the weird props like the barricad...

Re: So, Let’s Talk About Translations

It wasn't that one, but the cover was similar. My Les Mis novel experience is a bit strange. I started reading one, which had entire books and chapters cut from it, so I got a new 908 page version in which I would read in detail and take notes. I also have a really old antique copy that I don't touc...

Re: Bonjour!

Well, I really can't pick one favorite role because I've loved so many. But my favorites (plural) were Fanny in Bah Humbug, Katrina in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Madeline in The Fall of the House of Usher, and my current role as Éponine's understudy.

"Some Bourgeois two-a-penny thing"

In "Éponine's Errand," Éponine says, "Some Bourgeois two-a=penny thing" in response to Cosette. I'm not sure exactly what that means. My guess is that it mean something like, "Nobody important," but I'd like to know the true meaning (I do know that bourgeois is an upper...

November Show

So if any of you happen to be near Lodi, California in November, I'll be performing in Les Mis! I'm Éponine's understudy. It will be at the Hutchin's Street Theatre on November 18-24 and 29-30.

"None of that, Lisette!"

At one point in the brick, Éponine is near Cosette's home and says, "None of that, Lisette!" I'm still trying to figure out what that's supposed to mean. My guess is that it's something negative or sarcastic, but I'd really like to know if this was some sort of expression or what.

Re: A few questions about the book

1. I remember taking an English class that basically got students into the habit of taking notes in books. So my "notes" sometimes involved symbolism and stuff, but I also wrote little comments as though responding to the characters. I remember at one point writing, "FINALLY, THE BISH...
