Re: How different Les Mis is when it is translated to another language and culture?

The issue with Éponine is very interesting. In the brick, Éponine addresses Marius with "vous" (usted) in French. When Marius first meets her, he addresses her with "usted" too, but then, when he asks her to find Cosette, he uses "tu" (tú) and Éponine loves it. Later o...

Yep. It took me over a month to copy and paste one of Marius' rants from someone else's transcription.

Re: Summarize Les Mis in one sentence

A long, rambling game of "Bread, Wed, Dead" Alternatively: "The son of a father to whom history will accord certain attenuating circumstances, but also as worthy of esteem as that father had been of blame; possessing all private virtues and many public virtues; careful of his health, ...

Re: What Gender are you

It seems to be that women outnumber men in most of the theatre fandoms, not just LM. Not sure exactly why, but maybe it's to do with the old stereotype that only gay men are into musicals (obviously not true, but yeah), and so perhaps guys think that if they say they're into musicals, everyone will...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

That coat is just absolutely wonderful. On the Verge is a play by Eric Overmyer about 3 Victorian explorers, all women, who go on an expedition and end up accidentally travelling through time. One of the explorers seemed to be pretty gay-coded when I saw it, but I was never sure if it was something ...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

YAY for possibly doing Les Mis! I've seen a video from Aladdin where the magic carpet threw one of the actors off during A Whole New World. No one was hurt, so it was hilarious. There was also a production of Into the Woods where Milky White fell apart on stage. And all of Black Lake Les M...

Re: Let's talk about Éponine

Forgive Éponine for what, exactly? For loving Marius? For being so messed up that she gave him the push to join the revolt? It's been awhile since I've read the brick/been much into Les Mis-character analysis, but from what I remember everyone wanting Cosette to forgive Éponine didn't want necessar...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

So. Grease Live.

-I'm bored rn, but I wasn't a huge fan to begin with so maybe it's not this production's fault
-The Pink Ladies are aight
-Tveit is aight
-..The sound cut out for about 30 seconds across the whole broadcast and I find that hilarious.

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

Also for the "Mis" vs "Miz," the highlight album of the broadway production is just labelled "Les Miz," going into what Havvy was saying on the Broadway vs West End front. I feel so loved. And thoroughly smished. College is a thing! I am surviving it! I might ...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

Nadim, by the by, was fantastic in Titanic and if you don't love that musical yet, you really should start.

I took this advice and fell in love with the overture alone (and the fact it's on YouTube). I've heard some of it before, but thank you for reminding me of its existence.

Pencils don't smudge, because they no longer write at all. Your only option is the Pen.

I wish more people paid musicians well.

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

I just saw on Tumblr that there's a new LM production coming to Hungary -- you can check out the cast list and photos here. I'm quite amused that Vikidál Gyula is playing the Bishop -- wonder if we'll have any priceless moments like there were with his Valjean back when they originally did the show...
