Re: Political Posts

So, all but one of the Senate Republicans voted for a tax reform bill that nobody had read in its entirety before the vote, because the bill is 479 pages long with last-minute additions and revisions handwritten in the margins and was only sent out to the Senators a few hours before the vote. The Re...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

Ooh, I look forward to seeing the video! :D (Still need to track out the audio from the production I went to earlier this month, as well... )

And happy day-after-Thanksgiving in the US now. Hehe

Re: The Phantom of the Opera

So, they’ve announced that the 30th anniversary Broadway Phantom won’t be Ramin. Instead, they’re bringing back... Peter Jöback.

And the string of unimpressive actors in the title role in NYC continues. :?

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

Yay for epic closing nights! Even if they weren't as good as they could have been... still, fantastic job, and I'm glad you got recordings of it even if it ended up not being the best performance of the run. :D And niche references always make things better. Well, usually... maybe. XD I saw my forme...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

Interesting... I was just talking with a friend a few days ago about how I hadn't heard anything about the BBC/Davies version in a while, and wondered if it was still on. Guess this answers that question! Finally got tickets for my alma mater's production. Remember, remember, the 5th of November. (H...

Re: The Phantom of the Opera

Some news from the Broadway production: James Barbour is leaving the title role, and someone new (or not-so-new) will be coming in for the 30th anniversary in New York. Laird Mackintosh will cover the role from Barbour’s final performance on Dec. 23 until the new full-time Phantom comes in. And ther...

Re: Les Misérables 2017 Swedish Production

Oh wow, this was fascinating to read. Some rather neat ideas... I liked the thought of the barricade boys still lying dead onstage for "Turning" and then getting up for "Empty Chairs." Though yeah, having them still be there for "Javert's Suicide" is a bit odd. (Credit ...

Re: Best and worst of the Schools Edition

My alma mater's theatre group posted photos of many of the main people in their LM! Blonde Fantine is a win, and it generally looks okay. No photos of Cosette when she's grown (at least so far), but we shall see... And the following status posted by the drama teacher: "Working on the barricade ...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

Hehe... I had my birthday on the 18th (wow, I’m almost 30...), and a few days prior, I got this in the mail. No card or return address other than the company, which weirded me out a bit... but it turns out that my sister ordered it for me and intended for a card to be included; the company just forg...

I hope all of you in areas that were hit by the storms are safe, along with your families and other loved ones. And now, Puerto Rico is devastated, as well... :( I'm really afraid that they'll have epidemics and even famine in Puerto Rico unless more relief comes in very quickly. For those who beli...

Re: Best and worst of the Schools Edition

Hee hee! Oh man... I wonder, can we also post here about community theatre productions and other amateur versions, and schools that are doing (or trying to do) the regular show; or just the School Edition, specifically? If other versions are allowed, I have some things to share, both good and ...

Re: Le Cafe Mu(in)sain

Ah, cool to see the Quast getting to perform again! I admittedly haven't taken the time yet to check out "Follies"; but I'm a fan of Sondheim's shows in general, so I do mean to get to it sometime. Though, what's this about Quast saying he's going to stop doing musicals? :? (Didn't Earl sa...

Re: Upcoming Alumni Projects

Found this whilst googling for stuff. Kojiro Oka (former Enjolras) will be doing a concert with guests, who include Hiromi Iwasaki (former Fantine) and Kazutaka Ishii (former Marius). They will be performing some numbers from Les Mis. http://www.chunichi.co.jp/chuspo/article/release/CK2017090502000...

Re: Political Posts

So, with devastation in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands after the latest round of hurricanes, and Florida and Texas still not fully recovered after theirs (not to mention wildfires in Montana that haven't been getting nearly as much attention), the Donald has instead been focusing on... athl...
