Re: London cast changes

I wasn't a fan of Chris Durling' s Enjolras - full stop!!!! I thought his voice was weak, his acting choices commanded no respect when portraying the student leader and I failed to see any intensity in his performance. He was, probably, my least favourite Enjolras ever. I must also say that Euan Doi...

Re: London cast changes

Hi, I hope you enjoy Hayden Tee as Javert, in London. Most definitely, he was the standout performer in the Australian production, for me. I was not a fan of Simon Gleeson's Valjean. His "Bring Him Home" did not convey to me the fact that this is a prayer. His arm actions and voice intonat...

Re: London cast changes

I hope you guys in London enjoy Patrice Tipoki in your cast change. She was certainly one the best from the Australian cast. I hope she embraces the (huge) differences between the London and Australian productions. For sure, I am really interested in your opinions, when she has settled in! Hayden Te...

Re: Helpmann Awards - Sydney 27th July 2015

Lea Salonga is touring Australia and just seen her show. Of course she sang "On My Own" and it brought real goosebumps and made me choke up. She received a tumultuous standing ovation for this song.

The complete opposite to the Australian Éponine.

Re: How were you introduced to Les Mis?

The year was 1986 or maybe 1987 and Les Mis had taken up residency at the Palace in London. Driving past one day I saw this huge hording with the Cosette logo. That seemed interesting and decided to give it a go. Hooked! Bought the CD, read the book understood the story and went to see it again afte...

Helpmann Awards - Sydney 27th July 2015

The Helpmann Awards were broadcast live (and almost advert free) last night. These awards are Australia's premier awards for the performing arts Best Musical was won by Les Mis, which made me cheer. Simon Gleeson (Jean Valjean) won Best Male Actor in a musical and Kerrie-Anne Greenland (Éponine) won...

Re: Seeing Les Mis in Melbourne tonight!!!

Oh well Les Mis has finished its run in Melbourne. Opens in Perth at the end of January for a limited season. From what I have read on Social Media, it seems to me that the cast cannot wait to get to Perth. More than half of them are graduates of the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts. The...

Re: Seeing Les Mis in Melbourne tonight!!!

Yesterday (7th December) I had a ticket for the Sunday afternoon performance. After much soul searching and deliberation, I decided not to go. Believe me when I say that was a huge decision to make and one that I would never consider ever having made. So why did I make it? I have been to see this pr...

Re: Seeing Les Mis in Melbourne tonight!!!

I went to Les Mis Australia again last night (27th August). Had a great seat - C 28. From here I could see everything that was happening and was right in the middle of the action. Unfortunately, and I hate to say this, this performance must rank as one of the worst I have ever seen by a professional...

Re: Seeing Les Mis in Melbourne tonight!!!

I have seen Les Mis in Melbourne 5 times already and I am going again tomorrow night (25th August). I went to the first preview night and was quite disappointed by some of the performances. I have been 4 times since the opening night and I my disappointment has been overcome. This cast has improved ...
