Re: Prayer Requests

Next weekend I have to fly to England for a friends wedding and I am freaking out! I am uncomfortable about flying at best and this summer it seems like absolute folly! I would really like you to pray for protection for me and my friends as well as for me to trust God and let go of my fear.

Re: A Ball of Fluff (Enjolras, Amis and a kitten)

Cuuute :D So very sweet and fluffy! "Now show me that foot of yours…I assume you just continued walking on it all the time?" Enjolras bit his lip, cleared his throat once and looked away. "Of course you did", Combeferre said and he shook his head. "No cat will break through ...

My friend's experince getting dragged into the Les Mis fandom.

I've managed to drag my friend into the Les Mis fandom! She's seen the new movie a couple of times but while she liked it I don't think she ever really got that into it. This weekend I got her to watch the TAC AND SHE IS HOOKED! It's awesome. All she knows about the fandom or the book beyond what's ...

Re: Lee's Miserable Translation and Confederate Brick Reading

Intrsesting idea. I would like to imagine her going for something like Prouvaires poem and then on throught the barricade chapters. Those chapters would however be the single most provocative part to choose that night, so no. I can definetly se her read something that would reflect their feeling of ...

Re: Lee's Miserable Translation and Confederate Brick Reading

There is a mention in the beginning of Gone with the Wind of how one the plantation families are rather cold-shouldered by their neighbours, in (large) part becouse the had sold some of their slaves to a passing trader.

Re: So, Let’s Talk About Translations

I happened to buy the Donougher (still called "The Wrethched" btw) when I went to Denmark this summer and so far I must say I rather like it. It has a nice modern language that is very easy and comfortable, unlike some of of the older but more litteral translations, but it doesn't feel &qu...

Re: Best translation of Notre Dame?

I'm reading Hapgood's translation becuase it was the one available on Project Gutenberg but experience from her work on Les Misérables leaves me vary and wanting something more reliable for a printed copy.
