Going specifically to see a certain performer

Okay, so as the thread title suggests, I have a question about traveling to a show to see a specific performer. Long story short, my little brother only likes musical theater because he saw Ramin Karimloo in the Les Mis and POTO 25th Anniversary shows on TV, so when he found out Karimloo would be pl...

Re: Les Misérables v Wicked

I recently saw Wicked on its US Tour because my mom wanted to see it. While I thought it was spectacular--the costumes especially--it certainly was not Les Mis. It's hard for me to explain, especially because I did enjoy the show a lot, but it was missing something. Perhaps I felt this way because I...

Re: For those that saw the musical movie before anything els

My dad was seeing it for the first time in full. While he knew the mayor was Valjean because I've explained the storyline to him several times before, he didn't realize the name the mayor was going by was Madeleine--he thought Valjean was going by the name 'Lemair'. I understand that he doesn't know...

Re: Musical Movie Reviews/Discussion

Suddenly seemed pretty insignificant, which I think comes from the fact that because it's a new song, its melody (as far as I'm aware) isn't really present elsewhere. It could have been interesting if they had had Marius reprise it later, juxtaposing his and Cosette's relationship with Valjean and C...

Re: Musical Movie?

I just saw it and--is there a place for us to discuss with spoilers? Because some of the changes/rearranging left me leaving the theater feeling ambivalent about the changes. I really wanted to love the film, but I'll need to see it again being cognizant about the changes before I can.

Re: Musical Movie?

It may be a stretch, but who is to say that this is the version of the song in the movie itself? I mean, I feel as though this trailer was trying to get across drama and emotion, and while the movie obviously will do that as well, it could be very possible that Hathaway sings a more traditional, mus...

Re: YouTube links

Not sure if this is the best place for it, but my little brother sang 'DYHTPS' for a band concert and I'm so proud, the link is here :)

Re: Character personalities: orchestra instrument remix

I see Enjolras as a tenor saxophone, weirdly enough, one that can hold it's own and lead and still blends with others. And sometimes, can improv amazingly into epic speeches.

Re: Coincidences related to Les Mis

I had Red and Black stuck in my head during science class and could not concentrate. I started singing it and the girl next to me started correcting my lyrics :) We're now best friends. Then, I was sitting in the back of English class, reading Les Mis. The girl next to me (not the brightest) asks me...

Re: The Good Karma Thread

I've never seen Les Mis, but was going to when the U.S. tour came along to Milwaukee. To my horror, I was going to be in Italy for marching band then. But I just checked the tour dates, and it's going to Madison in May! So I finally get to see Les Mis!

Hey there.

Hi! I'm Abby, a fifteen year old stuck in Wisconsin. I read Les Mis about six months ago because I wanted to challenge myself for an independent novel essay. That's all pretty boring, but pretty much I'm an average, quiet high-schooler, I love Harry Potter, and I'm new to this fandom. Yep. :)
