Re: Les Misérables 1998

I thought the Michael Rennie film ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044907/ ) . I also thought that the Frederic March version was worse as well, or at least no better than this one. I think, in regards to that film in comparison to this one it depends on what one prefers to be taken from the book.

Re: Upcoming French Radio Production

I am very interested in this adaptation but can't understand French. Who has listened to this whole adaptation? What characters and scenes are included? How authentic to the novel is it? How strong of an adaptation is it? I don't understand everything, and don't remember everything right now, so I ...

Re: What is MOST complete filmed version?

Check out my post that Ursula_F quoted. When comparing adaptations, here are some things to keep in mind: -The longer the adaptation, the better -Adaptations change stuff that was in the novel -Adaptations add stuff that is not in the novel -Adaptations vary in tone from too bright (2007 Japan) to ...

Re: Possible new tv version!

Did it say how long each episode is? My guess would be an hour like most other BBC dramas? Certainly more room than any movie adaptation, how they use this time is another matter. I've heard good things about the director, but the first time this series was flagged as a possibly he took a not-so-su...

Re: Musical Movie Reviews/Discussion

I honestly don't think there are/were any big name actors who could sing the roles. none that I can think of. They should have had dubbing, imo. It's not like they don't dub their own voices later on anyway.

Re: 1913 movie by Albert Capellani

Jumping in, but the screen cap is definitely not from the 1925 film, so Lugitum, I think that humanracer definitely viewed the 1913 version.

And humanracer, the 1925 version is available in a truncated bootleg form. If you google it a seller or two should pop up.

Yes, Perkins' Javert was one of the best Javerts in general, and the best thing about the 78 film, imo

Re: Favourite versions of main song?

Frances Ruffelle's version of "On My Own" will always be my favorite, to be specific I'd guess I'd pick her performance at the Chelmsford concert.

I am fond of Edyta Krzemień's version of "I Dreamed a Dream" on the 2010 Polish cast recording.
