Re: Musical Movie Reviews/Discussion

Completely different subject but when I saw it the second time last week, the cut that came across as most jarring to me was the robbery. I think they should've at least keep Thenardier's first verse ("This is his lair, I see the old fox around..."). Just starting his "who is this hus...

Re: Musical Movie Reviews/Discussion

Just saw it for the second time. What a beautiful film. I think it was filmed perfectly, I don't care what any one says. There so many perfect shots that just speak for themselves. This viewed settled some of my issues of the first: the new lyrics fit better in most cases, although I still have some...

Re: Saddest Miz moment?

The entire Fantine storyline, especially the arrest segment, and the entire epilogue portion for me.

Re: Musical Movie Reviews/Discussion

Also, what did you think of the ending? I liked it, BUT a lot of the audience though it was thrown in just to have a hopeful ending. They didn't have a clue what was going on and I ended up having to explain it to a bunch of people. I loved it. I don't really know how else they could do it. I think...

Re: What was the worst in the movies?

The 1935 and 1952 versions are pretty much merged in my mind. I always confuse one for the other.

Re: Musical Movie Reviews/Discussion

Does anyone think the movie didn't do the show justice? One of my friends said that, and at first I just said "BLASPHEMY" really loudly in the middle of my silent living room, but I was just curious as to what you people thought. I would say that the two formats and experiences are so com...

Re: Musical Movie?

http://entertainment.inquirer.net/74609/miss-saigon-dont-miss-les-miz Lea Salonga's review. Pretty much my thoughts exactly, although I haven't performed the role on stage...obviously... On the previous discussion of Hooper's directing, I had absolutely no problem with it. I loved the cinematograph...

Re: New CSR?

I'd love to see a new CSR with all of the cuts reinstated. No real preference to the cast, although I guess I should as we could end up with another Gary Morris. I'd love to have an official recording of Colm doing the whole show but time has passed on that. JOJ was just on the recording put out two...

Re: 10th Vs. 25th Anniversary Concert

Admittedly I've seen the TAC way more times than the 25th so I have a bit of a bias but I really think that the TAC cast is superior. What I love about the 25th is that it is somewhat staged and it is the nearly the entire show as it is today (I figure it's the closest we'll get to owning an officia...

Re: Movie links

Would any one happen to have or know of links to the 1934 version without any subtitles?

Re: Musical Movie Reviews/Discussion

Haven't posted here in five years but I figure now is as good of a time as any. I'm assuming that we can discuss spoilers in this thread? I'm about to go on a stream of conscience here... On a whole, I loved it. I think they got a lot of things right. I have some complaints but nothing to really bri...

Well I don't see why they'd say it if it wasn't true. Pretty cool, it's a shame that Lea Salonga will be gone by the time JOJ comes over; they're my two favorites in their respective roles in recent years. Wait. Lea Salonga is leaving ? Since when? October 21st, I believe. Her run was always only p...

I was just listening to the Radio Wales broadcast from Bryn Terfel music festival at which Michael Ball, Ruthie Henshall and John Owen John were all performing (along with Bryn and Connie Fisher). During a Les Misérables section. Michael announced John is going to be Broadway's new Valjean. He said...

I posted the original lyrics to Fantine's Arrest a while ago on musicals.net--at your request. Crowd: Take this harlot [something something] Let there be a full report Let her go back in the morning And then answer to the court Fantine: [something] Jesus, won't you save me? Are there tears enough t...
